ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD AND S.P.A.T.S. TRY AGAIN THIS SUNDAY
The Southern Pro-Am Truck Series will one again try to start off their 2016 racing season at Orlando SpeedWorld this Sunday after having the initial attempt rained out last month. The weather for this Sunday is expected to be much better with partly cloudy conditions expected and temperatures at race time in the low-mid 70s. Once again, the Florida Vintage Modifieds and Stocks will be part of the show and race their nostalgic machines prior to the Pro Truck 50-lap feature race. Also on tap will be racing for the Strictly Stock/Bombers. Dick Owens Services will be sponsoring the Strictly Stock/Bomber class Sunday afternoon.
The Race Trucks will also be in action Saturday night at Desoto Speedway in Bradenton and many teams hope to make it a two-race weekend by also competing at SpeedWorld on Sunday. Probable entries include Randy Leonard and his teammate Cody Martell, Eddie Lichtenberger, Taylor Moxley, Donnie Burkhalter, Derek Pugh, Brent Tyler (with two Trucks), Steve Jones, A. J. Moyer, Taylor Hosford and quite a few more. The 50-lap Pro Truck race will pay $1,000 to win plus incentives for fastest qualifier and most improved performance. The feature race winner will receive a unique trophy courtesy of Jostens.
An open practice will take place Saturday evening from 6 pm until 10 pm. Anyone with any type of racing machine can come to check out their racer and/or get some seat time. Pit passes are $15 per person or you can pay $30 for both Saturday and Sunday, a savings of $10.
Sunday morning, pit gates open at 9 am with practice slated from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. Grandstand gates open at 11 am with Pro Truck qualifying at noon. Racing starts at 1 pm. The Strictly Stocks/Bombers will race first followed by the Vintage Modifieds/Stocks and the day will culminate with the 50-lap headliner for the Pro
Trucks.
Pit passes on Sunday are $25 per person with a special grandstand admission set at $20 a car load. That means you can stuff as many race fans in your car, truck, van etc. and it's only $20 per vehicle entering the parking lot.
Please come out and support this great event and help get Orlando SpeedWorld back on stride for 2016.
