Once again, I need your prayers for my oldest and dearest friend Julie O'Connor. She has bone marrow cancer and went thru the stem cell transplant last year and now has found out that the new drug, supposedly the best, is not only killing all her red cells but her white cells. Her doctor has basically told her that he does not know if she can take the medicine that kept her alive for many years or not but he does not have anything else that will help her. He has suggested that she go to Little Rock, Arkansas to the best cancer treatment center there is for her cancer but she would have to leave next Thursday.
Her husband works on the NASA boat here and is currently off at sea and was not even home when she got this news. He comes home Wednesday and does not know if he can go with her to Little Rock or not which has left her feeling entirely alone and unloved. She does have two sisters and one brother but one sister wished her dead many years ago and they no longer speak and her brother disappeared after their mom died. Her other sister is too busy babysitting her grandchildren twice a week in New Smyrna to care about Julie. She won't let me go with her because of work and she knows I can't afford to miss work because I don't get paid but God has told me that she needs me more right now than my bills.
For months Julie was not allowed out because of the stem cell transplant and now with no white cells, she can't be out again. She is basically a prisoner in her own home and with her husband gone, is feeling very, very alone.
I know you don't know Julie but she means the world to me and has always been there for me when I needed support. If you could please add her to your prayers once again, I would be more than grateful. No one should ever feel all alone or wish they would just give you something in your blood transfusion to end it all. Julie is a fighter but right now her fight is gone. The doctor who treated her the first time and she trusted moved to Columbus, Georgia and I have told her to contact him since he does do clinical trials on drugs for her cancer. If he can help her and she can go to him instead of Little Rock, I would do that. Trust in your doctor is very important and she trusts this doctor totally and he has never lied to her about what to do. He told her also to get the stem cell transplant and she did. She won't go thru another one at Shands because of all the bad things that happened to her there although they have her stem cells for another transplant. Whether they can send them somewhere else, I don't know but she won't go back to Shands.
I am sorry this is a book but my friend means that much to me. And I know alot of you do believe in prayer and so do I. Whenever someone has needed them, I have given them and still have some included in my prayers nightly although they are better now but still prayers are said to keep them safe and healthy. If you could do that for Julie, it could help.
Thank you - Jane
