Wish I could have been around when racing was held on tracks made of wood! Some of these venues were next to unreal in their size and scope. Florida only had one board track - Miami-Fulford - on the north side of Miami that ran just one race before being destroyed by a hurricane.
The photos here are from the Beverly Hills, CA Speedway that operated from 1920-24... This was no bullring... it was dang near a superspeedway... Boards had to be replaced quite often as the second photo shows... Sometimes it was done from underneath WHILE THE RACES WERE GOING ON!
