all of the big tracks on Hoosiers
yeah John, i'm sure Charlotte and Auburndale appreciate you considering them second class. what are Inverness and Bronson on, are you leaving them out in the cold too or are they part of the "in crowd".
Desoto will be on the same tires they are a harder compound not as soft as our's
translated:
1 - FASCAR class cars will not be competitive at Desoto without buying new tires that they can't run unless they're at Desoto
2 - Desoto cars will not be allowed to run Desoto rubber at a FASCAR track OR Desoto cars will run off FASCAR class cars at their home tracks
and this is good for "racers"? i can see i'm not qualified to operate a track. my definition of "racers" is "the guys bringing the competition cars through the pit gate" and that's obviously not who's being benefited here.

Desoto will be on the same tires
here's a clue-by-4 for you John, a different compound IS NOT the same tire, i don't care what name is plastered all over the side of it.
It appears that Desoto will be switching to the harder tire.
don't count your eggs before they hatch. FASCAR still hasn't answered the question about whether or not they have or will receive 8" Hoosiers. i don't think Hoosier has production problems any more than i thought Goodyear had production problems.
Why couldn't they be turned in this Saturday when drivers get to the track?
that was the other Monday announcement; there's no racing at OSW or NSS this weekend.
it would still be a waste of a trip but at least they wouldn't have to try to shoehorn it in around their work schedule.
but then, i'm not really getting the vibe that "giving the racers an opportunity to refund Goodyear sticker tires" was the goal here.
As for the short time to trade in, Goodyear may have set that time.
no. believe me now and hear me later, Goodyear didn't have any more idea this was coming than any of the rest of us.
by 10pm Monday evening we had been called by or knew about 5 different drivers who had called the Goodyear rep and 2 drivers who had called the Hoosier rep. i have no idea what the counts are up to by now.
the 2nd guy to call Goodyear ( that we know of ) Monday was the first to give Larry Robinson the bad news. Robinson blew his stack. reports are that subsequent calls have only yielded "there have never been any tire supply issues on the Goodyear side" answers. ( and yes, there is more but from me it would be only hearsay )
FASCAR will try to claim that whatever is going on now is the "fault of the internet". no, everything i know of has happened over the phone. at most, drivers were using the internet to come up with contact info, the same information they could have gotten from most racing supply houses. over the phone. damn these newfangled technological gizmo's. we should still be doing everything by Pony Express.
certain people within FASCAR will probably try to blame us ( the McCreary's ). no, we haven't been initiating calls to anyone. we didn't even know this was going on until the phone started ringing off the hook about 1pm on Monday. but it certainly is a great soap opera to watch. and we didn't even have to pay for a pit pass.
I will be calling Robinson myself. i would have called him today but the number that was given to me was incorrect and i was too busy to screw around looking it up. i don't know if he'll be available over the weekend or not.
FASCAR will blame their racers for not having a "good attitude". okay, ya got me there. if that's your opinion, there's no talking to you.
but what FASCAR needs to be mindful of is; there's a LOT of people out here who have a pretty damn good idea of what is going on. and most of them are pissed. i know of at least two different cars which were being built which are now on hold and that's just way out here in Sebastian. and i know of another driver who has told a FASCAR rep that if this happens he's done running FASCAR.
and that doesn't even get into the issue of breaking at least one contract ( Goodyear Late Model Challenge ) with a major corporation which keeps lawyers on the payroll and has law firms on retainer. filing a lawsuit isn't an "expense" to a company like Goodyear, it's a way to justify a line item at the year end budget meeting. this isn't to say that there's a Goodyear lawsuit in FASCAR's future but if i were them i'd be looking over my shoulder and running scared.
<< keeping an eye out for the banjo players
