  • Fascar Goes Hoosier

Effective immediately all FASCAR sanctioned events will be utilizing Hoosier Racing Tires. The competitors will have 3 weeks to use up the tires that they have. We will use #2045 Hoosier for 10 X 15. We will not use a split compounds, 2045 on left and right. Hoosier assures us that stager of 1 - 3" will not be a problem.

I regret leaving Goodyear after 18 years, but this is the best move for FASCAR, Hoosier and the racers.

The 8" tire will be the F53 8 x 15. This will also be used for the left and right.
This is like the tire we are currently using without the 4 groves. Mini Stocks will be on the 8/23-13 Sport.

Tires will start being available this Wednesday 8/27/08. If you have Goodyear tires that have not been mounted this will be your chance to return them by WEDNESDAY.

Jeff Freeman of Hoosier Asphalt Oval South, Inc. wants to welcome FASCAR and their racers and will do his best to provide the product we need and want.

3 weeks to use them up is a very short time.

I finally got a complete set that is less than a year old, and that is because they came on a car I bought!

Kidding aside, the 3 weeks is way too short.

Just called the goodyear guys and they said they have plenty of the tires available. Also was told they still make them and there is no shortage. Sounds like someone wasn't paying the bill.

At $1700 per set for Nasscar-----

        36 races

        10 sets per cup

        6 sets per nationwide

        4 sets per trucks

        average 45 teams per week

        $1,683,000.00 per weekend

for a total of $60,588,000.00 for 36 weeks.

        Goodyeer will survive without Fascar.

        Hoosiers last longer...i've run both.

That doesn't include arca and the other weekly nasscar series that run goodyeers.

60 million is pretty good scratch.

Does the three weeks start as of today because there is no racing this weekend at OSW and NSS?

I agree with Boneman, 3 weeks is a short time.

We got one set used from someone to make it out there and now we have to save up more money to buy a new set of Hoosiers to race. How much are 8 inch tires going to cost?

The three weeks will begin when the tracks open back up...8" are $106.00 per tire. Boneman you have to take the car to the race track to race...

I think the hoosiers are an excellent tire. Much better than the heavy goodyears. The sport will hook up better on the ministocks and also last longer. You can get stagger a lot easier with the hoosiers too. They come in varieties of different sizes and are also easy to stretch.

One downside is when you come off the track, you will need to jack your car up and put it on jackstands. The tires will have small rocks work their way through the tire and cause a flat. Word of wisdom, keep a tire plug kit around at all times.

                Track tire

                Sandy,

Your announcement was for all FASCAR sanctioned events. Just to clarify, are we to also assume that the track tire for NSS, OSW and Columbia will now be Hoosier?

                Thanks, Tim A.

Yes, that does mean all three race tracks and all tours. All of this is sanctioned by FASCAR.

weird that you put it like that when you've gone so far out of your way to say that Columbia isn't part of the FASCAR org now.

This could not have come at a worst time. I don't understand why change in the middle of the season. What should of happen if there was going to be change is change it at the start of a new season not change it and then only give 3 weeks to use up what you have another bad decission. I think we all know who is really in charge at FASCAR.

                              Another Reason Racin Declines

So?.....Tell me who's in charge at the world wide FASCAR......J/K
On a serious note, it never ceases to amaze me how tracks change there rules thru-out the season and then wonder why racers don't come to support them.
NO, this is not at FASCAR,but all tracks in general.............Actually the more I think about it, the more frustrated I become. Especially this late in the season. With the exception of Late Models[they can afford], whoever is in charge and made this decision, should stand by the tire shed and KISS everyone who buys those tires. Driver's who bought tires the last week you raced, should get two!!!!!!
