  • I Have a Dream

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.
I have a dream that one day right here in Florida Modified owners from Showtime Speedway will be able to join hands with Modified owners from New Smyrna Speedway, as both friends and competitors on the same speedway without weight penalties.
Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate confusion over rules to the sunlit path of rulebook equality and understanding.
The question is, racefans, why is it only a dream?

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day, my friends.

May racial prejudice, from all parties, pass from this land, and may we be able to watch Tank Tucker, Jerry Symonds, Wayne Jefferson and Doug Miller all do battle at any venue they choose in 2016.

A little confusion here.... At some point, aren't those guys supposed to join hands, and sing in the words of the old negro spiritual. "thank God almighty pit slabs are free at last!"

Well, I think first they want to go from the slab to the track to inspection without issue.

But the answer to your question is "Yes. Yes they are."

Actually they are a peaceful folk--until the green flag drops.

All they want is an equal chance.

Some have said that they, the drivers, want something for nothing, everything handed to them. How dare them.

Hey, they are not asking to be Franchised.

They just want a rules book "handed to them" that allows their car to race at all four (count 'em!) racetracks in the central Florida area.

ps--I believe that most race drivers and teams would settle "for nothing". That would be a big step up from their current losses...
But--They are not asking as they are a proud group and work like crazy to be able to race.
