  • OWM rules posted for Desoto

2016 rules for OWM have been posted and they clarify the frame and fabricated front clip rules. Also the bodies rules are clear, I hope the other tracks will follow with the same rule package.

You sure don't want to bring to much motor if it can be claimed for $1800. set of rod's and pistons cost that much

You guys do realize you posted dirt car body rules, those are imca dirt car dimensions, have nothing to do with asphalt, not to mention hardly one car will fit within those rules with out changing a lot.

Rule Q is interior flat front to rear, left to right. Maximum 6 inch rake. Dirt cars are flat front to rear, because they don't run windshields, one could say they behind your seat to your deck panel is more then a 6 inch rake. If people want to follow imca rules, I'm all for it, but follow them all, brinn trannies, and run alchohol to, that's all I'm saying

Just curious if some one would answer me, why not Brinn or Bert trans.? Was going to have my son come down with his modified and race this winter but we have always run a Bert trans. Very dependable and cheaper to run and maintain than a multi clutch set-up with tranny, so why the rules against something that can save a guy a few dollars and that are very strong and dependable

there should only be 3 rules for the owm class.

                    1 max tire size
                    2 max carb size
                    3 no front fenders
lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

Thats how modified engine rules have been for as long as I can remember. 7lbs per Cubic inch, No dry sump or aluminum blocks, and 50 lbs in front of the flywheel for aluminum heads.

That is correct Dalton, the engine rules have been like that for years, atleast 13 years.
As for the body rules A reputable chassis builders looked over the body rules and said they were fine. In the SARA days that is all i did every year was pull up the IMCA rules take there logo off and put mine on. Can't help it that a few (2) builders are getting carried away. Myself and Ronnie have worked on the body rules for a while now, I told drivers months ago in our drivers meeting that they were getting out of hand and we were looking at them. The drivers blamed the track for not enforcing it and it getting that way. You can still run the Monte Carlo style roofs, its just if you run the dirt style side boards you will follow the diagram. OH and BTW, Showtime Speedway will be using the SAME body rules and clip rule as Desoto.

Rick, do you know when the rules will be up on the showtime website? There were a couple other things I wanted to look at. Yoho talked to my dad today and tols him the 2016 rules were up, but neither of us could find them, the 2015 ones are still up.

So Rick, according to the rules as long as the back of the car is 66 (rule x) I can bow the body out forward from the rear, ( like a dirt car) and have the body 1 inch wider then the tires, (rule w), and I'll be fine right? Not trying to argue or anything but when I show up with something that you guys printed that you really didn't read right I don't want a argument.

Here's another thought I had Rick, you couldn't really have worked on the body rules for awhile if all you did was copy Imca, you said you talked to a reputable builder, let me take a guess, Cope. I have a Cope car and like it, but why not ask all builders in the area and take all views, because somebody comes out with a different looking or better looking or performing body doesn't mean you ban it, well I guess it does. Times progress and things change, quite listening to a few that constantly whine till they get there way.
