I mentioned in my earlier Frank Riddle Memorial Sprint Car post that I would have some separate mention of the DAARA, I have seen this group many times over the years and have always seen 15-20 entrants who have always raced very well and put on a good show. Saturday night at CCS I was shocked to see 34 entrants on track in four divisions. These guys and gals put on a show which they should be very proud. Heats and features for all divisions as part of the nights 18 race program. Midgets were won by #8 Jerry Pacquin, with Dale Miller #10 in the runner up spot. Ed Johnson in the #3 took down third. Earlier mention of Billy Riddle in his grandfather's car of yesteryear winning the feature. Jimmy Miltner in the 4x4 and Dave Cash in the #98 were 2nd and 3rd as they worked their way back from a three car fiasco in turn 3 on lap #10 of the feature. The #52 of Charlie Dean was the 3rd car in the accident. The V8 Mods had 8 cars with #44 Toby Smith winning, followed by #93 of Frank Lenhardt, and the #71 of Pat McNear. The #44 was the former New England car (Fiore, Ruggerio, Colturi) and brought back many memories as he battled for the win. The heat race was one of the best races of the night as #44 Smith did battle with the #78 of Doug Ashton. The #78 came out for the main event but Ashton's mount started to misfire on the pace lap and he headed to the infield. The #93 of Lenhardt put up a good battle for several laps but the #44 eventually took the lead and held the field at bay. The 6 Cyl Mods were up next and they

DAARA (continued)
did not disappoint as they had a tremendous race with 14 cars on hand. The #7 of Duane Lacornu held the lead for most of the race but seemed to change his groove coming out of turn three on the final lap, while the blue #96 of Steve Campbell was in pursuit, the groove switch sent the #7 into a spin coming out of four as they headed for the checker. #96 Campbell took advantage and took a hard earned win followed by the coupe of the #04 Ricky Taylor and the #38 of Steve Parrish taking down third. Really great watching the variety of cars the DAARA had in the field. Old coupes, sedans, midgets, old time open wheelers, and of course that great looking black #44 of Toby Smith which was my favorite as the car brought back many memories. Who was your favorite ??? Just can't say enough about the quality of this DAARA show. Excellent !!! Also kudos to CCS as it looks like some new paint on the grandstand railings and some sprucing up other areas made for an enjoyable night. Also great to hear the announcer continue to tell folks about the non-smoking ,non alcohol sections so everyone knew where to sit. Some really good hamburgers and fries as well. Now if you could just have bottled soda at both snack bar locations would be nice. See ya at the Races !!!
