Quite a night at Citrus this past Saturday, as by my count. 87 cars gathered in eight divisions including 21 Non-wing sprints for the Frank Riddle 40 lap Memorial race. My personal highlight of the evening was witnessing Frank's grandson, Billy Riddle win the DAARA sprint feature in the old #11 of Frank's from Back in the Day. Billy shared with the crowd during his Victory interview that this was his first time behind the wheel of this car. Great moment. I sure hope Mr. Golardi was present in order to do a write up on the 40 lap Frank Riddle Memorial as this was one of the best action packed sprint races I have seen in quite awhile. #79 Jason Kimball took the victory, Dude Teate #31 second and Brian Gingras in the 1X finishing third. Shane Butler in the #15 came home 21st after a mishap into the turn two wall, which also highlighted Shane doing battle with the wrecker truck as he kept yelling, waving his arms and pulling on the hook cable as he stood in his sprinter as the car was pulled off the track. The track announcer missed the entire happening as well as most of the evening's racing so we never really understood what happened. Would be interesting to know what caused Butler's actions. Lap 24 saw Mickey Kempgems take a wild ride through the infield as he came into contact with a slower cars mess while Kempgems was leading the race dropping him to a 16th place finish. #1 Ty DeCaire was 4th and Troy DeCaire was 5th. Great field of sprinters supporting this event !!!

Pure Stocks were topped by James Holly in the #09 followed by the #3 of Jason Waller and #185 Wes Wilson rounding out the top 3. Great race as this one went 40 laps without a caution. . Legends 20 lapper saw a fantastic battle between Devin McLeod #27w and # 00X Darin Coker, which saw the two cars coming to together causing Coker to spin. Coker was relegated to last with one lap to go but managed a third place finish after a fantastic drive back to the front. Devin McCleod said in his victory interview that there was nothing intentional and he hoped Coker understood. Great job by the young gentleman, Devin McLeod. Dave Gleason in the #07 was second. TQ midgets went to Mike Belusar #63, followed by Rob Kohler #63 and #7 Sam Mancuso. Mod Mini feature lost to curfew but saw Curtis Flanagan in the #46 put on a fantastic crossover move coming out of two to regain the lead and win the heat race. 47 Richard Kuhn 2nd and #711 Wayne Heater was third. Every division had some really great racing during both the heats and features. Great night at this rejuvenated track. Just wish the announcers would learn the drivers names and let the fans know who is who. Maybe they are new as well, don't really know but there is room for much improvement from the announcing team. The DAARA will have its own sheet as they had one heck of a show as well !!! Great job Gary !!!!
