Good job guys, Mods on Oct. 3rd and Supers on Oct 10th, both posted here the same night. It doesn't matter who had their scheduled first, now the fans get a half ass show at both tracks and the drivers have to choose which one to run. What a joke!! When are you guys gonna get your shit together and knock off this non sense.

Desoto has had their schedule out since last Nov, with a few changes to the backbone classes only.
the other track just put their second half schedule out 2 months ago.
Desoto already took a big race off to accommodate them a few months back to work together. not sure of there reasoning.

Linda is factual in her post. You can say you don't care which track is at fault, but that matters. Makes it hard on the track that didn't do anything wrong to try and move dates to eliminate the conflict. In the end as Bandit alluded to, everyone suffers. Sad part is, all tracks tend to be guilty from time to time. However, it should be noted that Showtime always releases their schedule early and seems to pretty much stick to it. In fact, it's out already. And notice they seem the healthiest. Coincidence?

So, If my burger joint and my competitor both sold deluxe burgers that the customers (fans) prefer, neither of us would only want to sell our deluxe burger 3 nights a week to accommodate our competitor so each can get the most customers on certain nights (dates).
So, each of us advertise our deluxe burger and the customers (fans) go to the burger joint with the best burger...........seems pretty simple to me.

I'm not really sure how this one is going to play out to be honest. Both tracks have put up $3,000 to win, a really nice amount. Desoto's posted purse comes to around $13,000. That's a healthy purse, but that's also a lot of overhead right there. Auburndale has failed to post a purse, just what they will pay to win. A thing to consider is the cars who came to Desoto for the last Super race already have bought and paid for all the wristbands for them and their crew that I am assuming will be honored for this race and this race only.And I think they had 20 cars. So perhaps that just might help ensure Desoto gets the lions share of the cars. However, if each track only gets 10 cars, it could be an ugly financial proposition for both tracks as well as a snoozer of a show. Of course, you could cut the laps and purse, but I think we all saw from this past week that doing that
will go over like a fart in a spacesuit. Plenty of unhappy drivers. That just seems like the third rail to drivers these days in FL racing. It will be really interesting to see how this all shakes out.

With all due respect, as I am well aware of your qualifications and history and I concede they are admirable and deserving of respect, I would like to call shenanigans. When I checked the schedules in mid August, Auburndale didn't have anything released. Yet they somehow managed to find a way to schedule directly on top of Desoto on 10/10 that had been planned all year. Then, you guys somehow managed to schedule your qualifying night on 11/7, directly interfering with supers at Showtime, and then managed to conpletely contradict yourself about competing with football by scheduling features on Sunday 11/8!!!! Please splain that to everyone.

I respect the hell out of you for falling on the sword so to speak. My only question would be, I don't see anyone running Supers the following week on 10/17 or the 31st? Is it your scheduling conflict with you being there? Or is it Auburndale Speedway's conflict. I think fans just want a good show and splitting up car count (9 OWM at Adale and 7 at DSS this past week) only hurts the fans that do come out, and the track with the fans that don't. I pick and choose races based on scheduling, you can pretty much figure out where the show is. This weekend with Supers at 2 tracks paying 3K to win, I'd be more inclined to attend Showtime bc I know the Fastruck Moyer Memorial will have 25 trucks, and their backbone classes are worth the price of admission alone, especially the Street Stocks. For the love of god, can all the owners please sit down this off season and try to hammer out these conflicts?

Well, there you have it I guess. This presents a double dilemma. Seeing as Desoto has the date originally, are teams that have arm bands from the prior rain out going to be allowed to carry them over to a later date since they can't be in 2 places at once? Given the current number of tracks in Florida, and given the total number of "top cars" in each division, I can certainly see how making sure the divisions are "staggered" from week to week among tracks is the way to go.
And agree with it. Seems like the tracks could have a common website with a calendar and work all this out.
BUT, there are also only a limited current number of fans. If I think a given modified (or etc) show will be better at track "X" than "Y", that is where I am going.
And it is a track's prerogative to a) schedule over another track, and b) scarf their gate. It ain't clean driving, but hey, it is business, and it is racing. Neither is fair.
You know, if they got together, Home Depot & Lowes could stagger their locations and each corner the market in their respective areas. But no, they almost invariably build right next to each other.
And so it goes...The only choice is to have a Master--and "Fair"--Plan. That will be enforced.

There absolutely are ways to avoid conflicts. You mentioned the simplest one which is staggering, however as we have established many times prior, it would require these tracks caring enough to work together. While there may be a few that would, many obviously are not interested. To me, this is disappointing knowing how well it works where I currently am, but it is what it is. Maybe someday, some of these stubborn owners will see the value there really is in "coopetition" as Ol DW puts it...
OS you are 100% right, there are only so many cars and so many fans. When 9 show up at one track, and 7 show up at another, you inevitably rob both. There is really no simple fix with all these tracks in such close proximity.
One good point that was made elsewhere... With the Eddie Brann race in three weeks, it's possible that many are saving their cars for that race which is why the OWM fields were fairly thin this week. Plausible?Last edited by Phil Jacques; 10-06-2015, 08:13 AM.
