When we raced in the Grand Am sports car series, you basically had to pay if you wanted to be on TV. We finished 18th overall and 10th in the GT class 2009 Rolex 24, and the only time we got on TV was if were in the shot by accident. No mentions, no nothing.
WE'VE MOVED!!!

Joe,
Tough row to hoe, for sure...
But, did the sponsors you had sign up believing they were going to get some sort of a return on their marketing dollar?
And, would have it been a help in your sponsorship finding efforts if you had, say, 10 minutes of sanctioning-body-guaranteed air time?Last edited by OldSchool+; 08-31-2015, 10:46 AM.

it should be a responsibility of the commentator's under caution, at times they will spend 3 - 6 min. on their favorite driver. lot of opportunity during the race to get it done ,if there is a Waltrip in the house ,they like to here themselves talk.

Now that's going the extra mile to get "air time" for your sponsors!Last edited by OldSchool+; 09-01-2015, 10:13 AM.

I've noticed recently that even the drivers don't get mentioned at the start. They go through about the top 15 or so, then immediately go to smell cheesy in-car audio with a driver..... the rest after that, you have to read the teleprompter.
Fat chance getting a sponsor mention, when even the drivers can't get one....

If the producer spent 60 sec on every car in the field he would have used 44 min of the show . almost 1/3 of the time and half of the on air race time. He would be looking for a job after his first race.
Sponsors track on air time and spend there buget that way. If they don't get there time they stop paying. The small sponsors are taking a chance that there car does something that will earn some air time. most of the small sponsors are just race fans.
