Finally got a night of racing in there after many weeks where mother nature was the only winner. They dubbed it as a re grand opening of sorts and had 6 divisions. Kyle Bronson was an absolute force destroying what was a decent field of late models. I haven't seen a car that fast compared to the others in a while. He picked up the mod win for good measure.

They had 34 thunderstocks (?) In another of their iron man series races. Shaped up to be a great race, but it was a crash fest only 10 or so finished. Good racing in between the wrecks.

I tell you what, they really get the sponsorship and promoting thing. I got in w my son for $20. Under 18 is $8 I was 12. They have a sponsor for every division and what seems to be an endless parade of billboards around the track. The business model just doesnt seem to be so front gate dependent. They had a good crowd though, so it was a win all the way around for them.

The show kept moving (except the thunderstocks) and they had good fields. The four cylinders was short, but I think they shortened the race because of it. They just seem to know how to run things.

The 50/50 was $500 and in a sponsored (yes even 50/50 had a sponsor) back up drawing they gave away an ipad.

    Good stuff.

As much as I like Volusia....

I gotta say that for some reason the racing didn't grab my attention last week. The car count was solid, the track surface was excellent, but whenever an event is live and unscripted there is a chance that the show could be a little "meh".

Being an opinionated guy, I do have two points to offer. First, on such a hot and steamy night for the fans, I would have made sure the ice cream concession was in operation. We needed it!

More importantly, why did we have to sit through a very uncompetitive, 5 car mini stock feature before we could see the 34 car main event? Sure, the mini stock guys who showed up deserve a chance to race, but put it later in the show please.

    See y'all again soon VSP!

Oh yeah, no soap in the concession stand bathroom either.

They are a hell of a place to race, and 90 cars proves it. Why not get the easy things right too?

Things could be worse,,You could be at NSS getting your motor torn down to the crank for $600 to win

Racing was hit or miss, depending on class, but I guarantee I saw more passing at vsp in one night than at most asphalt tracks in three or four weeks.

Still a good show w lots of participation on fan and racer front, in spite of ice cream gate.

I want to know WHAT they knew, and WHEN they knew it!

Also, did you notice that the winner of the "wiener nationals" skipped tech?

From what i could tell on the weiner winner, he had an unapproved modification. Looked to be missing some nuts from the drivetrain!

                  Re: Kyle Bronson

Several years ago (at EB), I was told by Frasson118 to watch the number 40 who was starting scratch in the feature. The 40 came up through the field (without touching anyone) and took the win..... I have watched him ever since and have seen him win MANY times without touching anyone....never a scratch on his car...(same with his Mod)... the guy is one to watch....
He races where the money is the highest...

BTW.... Ice Cream is super important on these hot summer nights... Shame on VSP on not taking care of their customers.... shame shame shame.
