It certainly sums up the problem with track owners and their irrational fear of the internet. Track owners seem to think that fans and racers haven't ever vented their feelings about a track until the internet came along. Those same owners/promoters were born tone deaf and seem to have missed the fact that there have always been lousy races, terrible calls from the officials, overpriced food, poor tech inspectors, and rainouts that weren't announced until the fans had bought their tickets.
Before facetube and youbook, the fans and racers just spread the complaints and anger out in the parking lot after the races, by phone calls to friends, and at work on Monday morning. Now the internet is used.
Bashing is what track owners call complaints. And what puzzles me is their firm belief that if every single complaint about any aspect of their track or their show could be kept silent, the stands and the pits would be full again. It's those damn complainers that are responsible for the downfall of the sport they profess to love so much.
They don't love the sport any more than the fans and racers they're complaining about. If a show stinks, the fans have a right to say so. If a tech call or a race call was wrong, the racers have a right to voice their opinion. If the track chooses to pretend everything they do is just fine, and that complaints aren't welcome on the official track message board, then who really has the problem? The track or the people posting?
Having said that, the tracks can run their message boards any way they like, just as this board can. But trying to bury dissent is a bad idea, because everybody is entitled to their opinion and everyone has the right to voice said opinion.

Just like any field of dreams, build it right run it right and they will come. One would think the internet would be cause for doing it right but oddly they refuse to, The Frances are proof enough of that. Citrus Co. a previous fan and driver favorite is becoming a shell of what it was when they did it right.

How about a little personal responsibility?

That is, everybody in this sport is wearing their big boy britches, or they ain't in it long.

The "Solid" tracks I am aware of are "above the fray" of the net regardless of what is said.

And the others would be having problems also regardless.

Look, a lot of cheering for Bithlo has happened from time to time, and yet...there it is, waiting. The cheering did not save the track (10 points for Kat, Phil, and others for their efforts, though).

Seems like it is the same-same in the other direction.

So (hypothetical hypersensitive track operator), keep the joint open or close it-- but it is your choice. Money, aggravation, heartache, money...all may factor into it, but it is your choice to run it or run away.

The net is full of detractors, that is life. Deal with it.

Some will cheer, some will boo. Same with fans in the stands, drivers in the pits, state inspectors, girlfriends...

Curious though, on the other hand, what a big deal "bullying" is in school these days...

I'm just saying in general. Instead of all the negativity about these tracks how about lookin for some positive ways to change them. (e.g. Collectively as a class or as a group sit down with these owners and look for ways to bring tracks together or get classes in line . Or show up to race and attract fans and in turn sponsors. It's hard to bash a track and sit home and complain or go on a Facebook rant and expect that to help out. Just saying.

First, i get your point about complaining from the sidelines, but i don't know of any instance where that happens with the people on this site. We're all at the track mostly every week, sometimes more than one track per week. As fans, or as racers.....we're there.
It's tough to find very many positives in Florida short track racing these days. And this site happens to have some pretty smart people posting about the things that could be changed, the things that should be changed, and the things that have to be changed. The owners and their minions read this site everyday, and they see the same problems discussed, the same solutions suggested, day after day, week after week, and even year after year. They don't feel they're the problem, it's always the internet, or the economy. And here's an interesting factoid. Not one track that i know of has ever reached out to every individual fan asking what they feel works, or doesn't work. You'd think with the ticket sales falling as badly as they have, they'd be very interested in handing out a 10 or 20 question survey to EVERY ticket purchaser EVERY week, asking what should be changed, or improved, or left alone. Same goes for handing out a similar survey at the back gate, asking the racers what should be done differently, what should stay the same. AND THEN ACTING ON THE RESULTS!!!! But no, the tracks are sure they're doing it right, they're sure it's the internet that's really killing racing.

                Re: Negativity (part II).

When instructing a child to do something they do not want to do, the child naturally asks themselves "Or What?". If the answer is "Mommy doesn't like that" or similar, the kid is going to have a ball. If the answer is "Or bedtime is X:YZ" or "you lose phone privileges" or similar, you might get the desired outcome.

SO, when addressing the negative posters (you know, them, never us--our stuff is important), it requires them not to do something they wanted to do--place a negative post.

And after they read the kumbaya request, and after a quick "Or what?", then what?

Like the Mom, if you ain't got nothin', why not let the little problem go...?
