  • Sportsman BOUNTY Increases again at New Smyrna Speedway

This Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway: Super Late Models, Sportsman, Modifieds, and Bombers.
The American Auto Bounty on Patrick Thomas has increased to $400. Any Sportsman who beats Patrick and wins the race will receive a $400 cash BONUS.
Pre Race party starts at 6 PM with live music and $1 beers. Racing starts at 7:30.

Respectfully, I am hoping "The Bandit" gets an equally increasing % of the bounty.

He is, after all, the draw that has created the bounty, the field that came for it, and the crowd that comes to see both Mr. Thomas and the cars that intend to beat him.

It is also maybe food for thought for the future. The (late model) Sportsman races have been some of the best racing in years at NSS. Just what purse does it take to maintain those big fields with the good cars?

Ya never know, Patrick could be offered a Cup ride at any time...

Only cup ride I will be offered, is a ride on Disney's Tea cups, and you don't want to watch that, projectile vomiting would follow that cup ride.

Hope the great car counts stay up, I am hearing some different west coast drivers will be here, plus it sounds like Sean will be back with the minor technicalities all taken care of.

      Should be a barn burner!!

Not your cup of tea, eh?

No worries though, you already have the "E Ticket" ride!

Just look what you have created Patrick! Should be a fun night if they don't listen to the forecast and give up early - I showed up at 4 pm last week and the sun was out and looked like it would have been a nice evening, oh well... - A big thank you to E. J. Wilcoxson of American Auto, Tires & Service for putting up the money... he is a great supporter of the track and not too bad a pace car driver either... Let's see if Sean can put on another show with that airplane of his or who else may take the challenge... Roger Blevins always looks good when he comes to NSS too... Also wish Jason Rendell would bring out his hot rod... that car looks fast sitting still! All we need now if for Garrity to show up to make it even more interesting (he can borrow some nitrous from me)... Then you've got the Jim Daley entourage... enough cars for his own heat race! Patrick should be proud of what he's accomplished this year with no sponsor and he's not doing it against 6-8 car fields either...

Dave I must have just missed you since I left here at 330 and it was raining. It may have been a questionable call but I did what I felt was best for the racers and the track. Next time you'd like to question one of my decisions feel free to contact me directly. Anyone that knows me knows normally I don't give up too easily.
