In reality is it all the Haase familys fault? I think the airport authority put them as well as they would put any other future leaseholders in a position to fail.First you have to pay property taxes on a piece of ground you will never own while you also pay a monthly lease.Second, here in Florida the land of trailer parks and R.V. parks you aren't allowed to live on the grounds to help minimize expenses,Third heres a speedway grounds that has been vandalized and left for nature to reclaim but we want these improvements restored in a certain timeframe all the while we will work at governments usual speed of light (SURE) to get you the permits you need. What? You mean you don't want to tie me up while you kick me in the nuts too?Or is that something you are saving for a surprise towards the re-signing of the lease?Oh and by the way the reason we awarded you the lease instead of the highest bidder is they were in state and knew enough about the situation that they said no way in hell they would agree to all the provisions.

It seems to me the brunt of the fault does lie with the Haase family. They came down here with no idea what it takes to run and maintain a race track. They saw the track, just like everyone else saw it. Whose fault is it if they didn't know what they were looking at?? They did it the way they wanted to.
What was important in their eyes unfortunately was not what should have been taken care of first. The catch fence is the only necessary improvement made, and it was a group of racers who put that together. No other significant improvement have been made. A BLACK WALL???? NO P.A.???? People who can't even post a line up timely????. Face it they did not know what to do, and did not have the money to do it with. And they still don't know how to run it.

Granted, they have fallen very short in a lot of areas and that is just from the fans side of things.I no longer am on the pit side of things so I cant offer up an honest informed opinion of that side. The no P.A. thing IS INEXCUSABLE and I will give you that one from the start.I think a good sound system WITH A TRACK ANNOUNCER WHO IS KNOWLEDGEABLE is an essential thing and the constant playing of music during the races was annoying to say the least.I attended the first 5 events they held after opening and quit going after a night of low car counts(again) and an almost hour long intermission. Not to say they are the only ones in southwest florida to have done this because they aren't.What I am saying is any of us that would enter in to the same kind of deal with the airport authority that they did would fail also unless we had endless capital to work with. The bigger question that really should be asked here is were their resources and supply of capital to have the ability to pull the transformation of the track misrepresented?
