Another interesting thing, the NASCAR series was first the "Sportsman" series in the '60s, then became "Late Model Sportsman" somewhere in the mid '80s.

The modifieds were a separate deal, and their early superspeedway modifieds were yet another car also.

The word 'Limited' automatically makes me think of a watered down version of something else. To us regulars it doesn't make much difference (we just call them Sportsman), but if your trying to attract new fans, make it sound like something exciting, not a 4 word title that means nothing to the average Joe.....

On the other hand, that same Average Joe might be tempted to go see the "Pro Outlaws" or something similar.......

Limited or E or Econo, always struck me as insulting to the driver and car owner. Kinda like "you guys can't spend the bucks so you get some BS prefix to your class. I like what dirt does, super late model, crate late model. Both classes still bring out the fans at dirt tracks

For some reason, "Sportsmen" always reminded me of drivers who were "good sports". Then I would realize that wasn't always the case when they would sometimes get mad and wreck each other under caution...lol

Now that I think about it, I believe Scott's drivers suit has those leather round things on the elbows, and he smokes a pipe contemplatively during intermission...

re: post #18 = Real Late Model

I owned two of those cars along the way, still have a soft spot in my heart for them.
