Dumbest penalty ever.

Whats the dumbest penalty you have ever been assessed? Can be as a driver or a crew member.

I will start with mine. It was the big November race at a famous track up here which I will not name in 2005. I led most of the event until a caution with 5 of 6 laps to go. ON the restart I checked out pretty good and before I got to turn one the caution was back out. As I came back around to the front stretch The black flag was being waved at me and I was stopped by race officials. I was being sent off the track for shifting on a restart. No where in the rules does it say this procedure is illegal. Nor was it mentioned at any drivers meetings.

We were running a dirt late model and were 3rd in the feature on the bumper of the car in front of us. During a caution (We were allowed radios) I was talking to the driver and I told him the car in front was staying on the bottom at the starts and we were comming off of the corner best up top. They dropped the flag and he went in to the corner to come out high, the car in second washed up the track and he had to let the car drift high to avoid a collision. The car behind us did the same thing as we did. The 5th place car was about 5 car lengths back from the car behind us spun out trying to run the inside berm. When we came around they black flagged us and told us to go to the rear, the driver stopped to ask why and we were told that we got sideways and caused the other cars to wreck behind us. It was never mentioned that the car directly behind us did not wreck and we had to do it to keep from running over the car in front of us. We NEVER Lost forward momentum and never lost our position but we got sent back because we "GOT SIDEWAYS" on a dirt track.

1. Won the Main, Got DQ'd for wearing SNEAKERS to drive, NO rule back then about fire safety, Track favorite WON.
2. Running in the top 5 got Black Flagged for dragging a part on the track, A Wipe RAG.
3. Got DQ'd for running to fast on the LINE UP lap NOT the pace lap, Late out of the pits so I had to move to catch up.
THere where others but those I remember becasue my DAD would never let me forget them

We blew a head gasket during a Super Stock race at NSS a few years ago. Brought the car in after running dead last anyways and the tech official came onto pit road and told the driver to bring the car through tech half way through the race. We were then dqd for an illegal control arm. Never mind half the cars in the field had the same Ford lowers. Guess we were on their bad side.

Next retarded thing they were busting us for was parking on the hill at Nss because we raced superstocks. Never mind the fact that every single week we would bring between 20 and 30 people with 2 cars and we all liked to watch the race from turn 3 together. We told Terry that was a mistake making us go to the infield and it turned out we were right. 20-30 quickly turned into 1 or 2.

Next retarded thing they were busting us for was parking on the hill at Nss because we raced superstocks. Here's mine..........1/4" too low on fuel cell ride ht (supposed to be 9" not 8 3/4").
Tech's theory was all my other ride hts were + 1" so i shouldn't have an excuse.

Auburndale's stupid rule about running another track and then coming there late. That's the stupidest one I have heard in a while.

I shrugged when Tiny Green got to Volusia late (after heats) after winning at Putnam in his modified and tagged the back of the field.
