New Smyrna pulled the Bright House races from Desoto over a dispute about suspended drivers. Then Showtime has the Bright House race, and New Smyrna runs a Super Late race on the same night? Is this just a case of super bad communication? 9 supers at Showtime, and 6 at New Smyrna.

BUT, it would seem that the "smart" thing from a track operator's perspective would be to provide incentives for locals to build enough cars to run at your track weekly.
Then, if you get "extra" cars for "big" events, so much the better.

Ryan, that is the way it used to be.
Later, IMO, the cars became more expensive and their numbers dwindled. And subsequently, the tracks began "chasing" the existing cars.
The sportsman cars are the wave of the future. They look like late models, bang doors like hobby stocks, and can typically be built--complete, for less than the cost of a late model engine.
Oh yeah, and people used to be at the track every week.Last edited by OldSchool+; 06-22-2015, 03:50 PM.

The sportsman class is the one I look forward to watching. They get good car counts, are fun to look at (with the options of body style) and put on a good show. At a big track like New Smyrna its no fun to watch 8 late models run parade laps, so when the sportsman are on the card I want to be there!

Crap like this has me attending more and more dirt track races lately.I thought about making the drive up to Showtime Saturday and now Im glad I didn't.The bad part is whenever Yoho doesn't have a good car count he will stand there on his mr. microphone and use every excuse under the sun why the cars aren't there.I wonder how many people who paid twenty bucks a head to get in were happy with a 100 lap heat race ?sigpic
