  • Worth McMillion Passes

    Hollingsworth "Worth" McMillion, age 88, of Amelia, VA, passed on June 5, 2015. McMillion was the first paid deputy in Amelia County and was a Navy Veteran of WWII, retired Special Agent with the ABC board and was a former NASCAR driver. McMillion ran the NASCAR Grand National circuit (now Sprint Cup) from 1962 to 1969. He amassed 18 top 10's in 62 starts with a best finish of 5th at Occoneechee Speedway on Sept. 15, 1968. He ran mostly Pontiacs that were left over from the GM teams when Pontiac pulled out of the sport early in 1963. McMillion was also one of nine owners that Joe Weatherly drove for in 1963 to earn his second cup championship.

    Although I probably watched him race at Daytona, I do not recall "Worth".

    Those guys are what enabled Richard and Cale and David to look good up front and moved The Sport to the next level.

    That big poncho is pretty cool in it's own right.

      Also heard that Jabe Thomas passed away last week also... One of the truly great "independent" drivers who was a true character in his own right... Father of driver Ronnie Thomas who had a pretty decent career too...

        Total career winnings $15690.00. Best money in one race was $1200.00 at the World 600. Wonder if he complained?
