How do you explain it, Mr. Scott?
They promote, they advertise, they keep costs for the racer down, they pay very well, they tech fairly, they have good food and an entertaining (think in between races) show. Oh yeah and they handicap so that the race ain't over after lap 5. In short (and I hate saying this) they do it the New England way.

And mo power to them. And mo power to your Northern scene.

But I could mortgage the house and go racing. I am not.

NSS could probably rustle up more sponsorship, but they are content with their business model (NSS, apologies if I am guessing wrong).

Yoho is apparently making a move.

The question remains, to whom are you speaking? The promoters? The racers? Do you really think anyone is jumping on the phone...?

Same same, two discussions. I agree you have good points. But you cannot agree that the South is what it is, and it is analogous to telling someone their girlfriend is a dog--it ain't changing nothing, except maybe alienating the friend.
The south IS what it is, but doesn't have to be. Anything can be done if you want it to be done. I am speaking to EVERYONE. Dirt promoters do their job and more. They absolutely go the extra mile. Sure, it's a different mentality, but one that could help oval track everywhere substantially. Most of what I describe is adapted from dirt oddly enough. That's what has brought a few tracks here back from the brink of extinction.

You know another thing Dirt tracks DON'T do... Kendo will agree... They don't overcharge you grossly...

Lebanon Valley NY... $10 adults $2 kids on a regular Saturday Night... And concessions are equally as affordable $2 for a beer, $3 for a Burger or Dog, $1.50 for a soda last I went. That goes with what I said earlier. Affordable Entertainment... Bang for your buck... For under $50 a family of 4 can go to the track and eat well and enjoy a great night of racing. That is the BIGGEST thing that will get people to the track aside from great on track action. Asphalt tracks everywhere over charge. They can't figure out how to get cars and fans in the pits to make a profit so they pass on ridiculous prices and fees for everything... Now, if you look at Bowman Gray... $10 for adults, $2 to get in... Good on track show, affordable food and 20,000 screaming excited fans every week... In an area with one of the worst economies in the country.... HMMM The promoter does his job, the owners don't overcharge, and they provide a good entertaining show. IT'S MAGIC!!!

I did my part. I told Phil to have a rich car owner or two bring down a brinks truck full of dough and buy Citrus. Don't rent it, that is for Southerners, buy it.

But darn it, no action yet.

Dernit, Garrity, you had to remind me about St. Augustine. Everytime I drive by Big Oak road, I tear up a little. One of the nicest facilities in the state at the time, and they didn't make it. I have know the owner V.J. since I was a little kid and he is a great guy. Just to show you how he was, I won a late model feature there in 1998 or 1999, I can't remember, and it paid $800 to win and it was just me and one other car in the feature, some guy that raced at NSS quite a bit I think named Eric-something and he still paid me the $800.

Some of this just gets regurgitated over and over , my dear sweet lord how many times am I gonna read the same stuff over and over!?

However, :-), I just don't see how NSS can continue year after year to have such low payouts, forever, but especially in a class like this that clearly probably puts on the most crowd pleasing show.

How many times are people going to lob the same garbage excuses for why FL racing sucks into these discussions? It's just like a broken record. I'm honestly tired of this whole forum. It's the same stupid crap every time. I don't know why I waste my time trying to help. It's obvious that Florida has the best racing programs in the world. Just ask those involved...

                    Where is that? VSP?

Last I went to Lebanon here it was 2 bux or so for a draft beer and not much more for a pretzel or bag of peanuts... If tracks in FL are doing that now, it's a ticking timebomb.

                        Aaron

For me this is my 19th season racing, Ive chosen to primarily support Desoto because it is about 50 mins from my house and the payouts are far better than anywhere for a sportsman show. But while doing so I also try and hit all the big shows around money permitting. Because I also race out of my own pocket primarily. showtime is only 45-50 mins from me while 3ps and citrus are about 1:45.. NSS being about 2 hours.. Bronson 2 1/2. Thank you for the kind comments also Weftracing96

No problem Aaron. We have met many times before. I'll say hi to you in person in the future. I remember you running the late model at Punta Gorda as well as the open wheel. Even going back to Southern Sportsman dominance. I always thought you were well spoken and clean cut, and you just needed funding and you could go far. If I ever win the lottery, you'll be running a late model. Prob make you and Patrick teammates.

Johnny Gomes, Charger Division #35 (also ran some in either pro stock or LM towards the middle to late 90s) Mid 80s to late 90s he ran, possibly before then. More a cousin than an uncle but we called him Uncle Johnny. I grew up at Seekonk watching him. That's where I got the bug.
