Do yourself a favor and stop before you make yourself sound even dumber... The entertainment funds are there for all forms of entertainment from music, stick and ball sports, racing, festivals, fairs or other. It's there to help boost the entertainment industry. It's not a bad thing in any way, the interest the state collects from it helps add to the fund. It's almost a self fulfilling deal. The funds come from a 10% entertainment tax that the state places on ticket sales from every entertainment facility also so it funds itself as well. It's like an entertainment IRA of sorts if you want to look at it that way. I hate these liberal dumbasses up here more than you can imagine, but it's kept the state of CT entertainment industry alive, from casinos to race tracks and everything in between.

Oh and if you don't like road racing I feel bad for you. You're welcome to join myself, Scott and others at the 2016 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this year. We have beer on tap, 10 different kinds of liquor and plenty of good music to go along with race cars and good food.

First, that is very nice for the beneficiaries, but straight up, has a single penny reached a short track?

Secondly, the downside is that the tax $$ comes from somewhere, and it could be used to, y'know, buy race tickets (if you are a race fan). Or pancakes for the poor (if you are poor). Or it could pay down some of the Pocono sized deficit that we have in National Debt that is devaluing the cash in your pocket as we speak (if you are the Guvment that extracted the tax money).

Regarding Yankees...I dunno, the jury seems to be out on both Mr. Albee and which side of the Mason-Dixon line he resides.

Point being, for me, the North vs South thing is absurd-particularly in Florida. Florida is the north-done-moved-down. 90% of the "crackers" (or "native" Floridians) are simply second generation kids of the done-moved-downers.

              Peace out, Chief!

                • Is this now a politics board now?

And as for Albee, we ain't claiming him as a yankee. Even if his spelling and grammar make him appear as one. It's a trick.

Down the road a bit from Thompson is this little town called Danbury CT,,,You may have heard of it...Up until 1981 they had modified races that drew a crowd of 7-8000 screaming yelling fans every Saturday night, yes,I said 7-8000,look it up.Each October they had a fair in which 500,000 people passed through the gates every year. You see,all this was done without tax payer grants.

It all ended when greedy corrupt CT politicians got involved. But hey, whats one more tax to bare? It is the sole reason I moved south.

Here is a tip from this dumb guy,,,Make your money up there, save it,and bring it here,,,,and thank me later

                        • There are plenty of crew chiefs that have been let go over the years, drivers lose their ride, even whole race teams close up shop.
If you can't or aren't doing the job, that's the way it goes....
Track leasees, owner/promoters are no different in my opinion- it's nothing personal, just business.
I believe it's time for a fresh start- it's been 2 seasons and it's time to give someone else a chance. Thank you for your effort- good luck in the future.

The track will have been closed going on 3 months by July 18 and he is having a race that looks like a regular Saturday night show- WTF?
How about a big show with a 100 lapper for the SLM and twin 50's for the Sportsman and OWM- I mean isn't this supposed to be the GRAND REOPENING?

Auburndale,Bronson and Desoto are closed that weekend- seems like plenty of cars would be available for a BIG SHOW, not to mention all the pavement Sprint Cars that aren't racing anywhere now.

just my .02 cents, carry on

                          • Thank you, Scott, for those words. You would think Gary would try for the big show, the opportunity is there. However, so is the fear that not many would show up. I like the regular Saturday night show, that's where the racing is; so i'll be there.

                            • OK Gary- now it's in writing, we're going to hold you to it

                              I took this from another website;

                              Press release for 6-22

Over the past few month I had to step back and regroup on many things in My life and with my business along with the track.in the past few months. This is something that many of my friends of mine have had to do the same in today times too and many people don"t race because of hard times and I fully understand. I am sorry that the track has been closed this long over me regrouping things in my life.

I have listened and read all the negative things about me... and I can relate to some of them of people being upset with me and I understand more then you all think or give be credit for at times. I want to say thank you on all the positive comment also by very many more. Everyone has great points on all the matters at hand. In time we all have things to happen to us that are not planned on at all but the only way to fix them is to work on them till there right so you can move on.

I fully understand the disappointment that some have towards me that Citrus County Speedway has been closed a few weeks do to my actions. But just saying it does work both way in the past I am expecting 15 cars in a class and only get 6.

Over the last few months I have talked to many drivers that really had know idea what it takes to open a track up for Saturday night to put on a show for us all and your great fans. After talking they have a different view of the matter.

Alburndale and Desoto have decided to close for July and August. My thought were more less the same as there until I talked to a lot of you drivers.

What will it take to turn Citrus County Speedway with me or a new person in place we need more Positive comments about your local track so you drivers can get more sponsorship for your cars and the track can too. I never said I would be one hundred percent right on taking over but we all have made mistakes at the track does not mean we have got to blast it all over facebook on a mistake someone made. Just saying.

Again I am very sorry that this all had to happen to you all but hopefully God will let a lot of good come from it all for us to have some great times together the rest of the year.

Ok on the positive side of all this we are going to be racing on

                              July 18th

                              Fastrucks 50 laps
                              Sportsmen
                              Pure Stocks
                              Street Stocks
                              Mod Mini Stocks
                              Mini Stocks

I am working on two race for Aug In Sept we will be racing full time.

If you no of any Local Sponsorship that would like to help with any one of these classes to make them a bigger race to a 40 or 50 laps have them call me cell # 813 313 8741.
