  • The Night Stalker

Billy Bishop (The Night Stalker ) did it again . started 29th , pitted once , came back through the field again and won The Iron Man 100 at Volusia Speedway Park for $10,000.00 ------ He ran a good clean race , after the race people stood around listened to interview , usually everyone leaves right away ( at midnight ) great job for a 70 year old man, hats off to him !!!

What a great race... he schooled those guys!!
One of the best races I've seen in a while, wish
A asphalt track could get a turn out like that!!
The race was exciting all the way through from lap 1
    To lap 100.

Did he make it through tech? Does VSP have a decent tech man? Sure LOOKED like he was sandbagging and If I was the 2nd place car, I'd sure want to see that motor!

That guy can wheel a car. When I lived in South Carolina I used to watch him race all the time. That was the dirt track capital .

From what I read, He didn't get dq'd for the motor. It was for a welded shock mount in the stock location. Kind of a stupid reason if you ask me and certainly something you could see in a prerace inspection to eliminate these marathon tech sessions. Sucks to go to a race, pay your money, see the race and then leave not knowing who won for sure.

Anyone who has common race sense could tell
He didn't out motor them, he just got in the gas
First and could drive off the corner. That's handling.......
When it comes to a big race like that, they could find
Something on anyone's car if they really wanted.
It's a rule book and if you wanna win your looking for grey
Areas and hoping that you out smart them. Congrats
To Durden he started in the back also and had a decent car.

Well, I've got common sense and racing sense too. I was on the backstretch and you could hear him lifting way earlier than he needed to. Until he decided it was time to go. You could see/hear it plain as day.
But you're entitled to your opinion.

Jmitch, I respect that! But if you noticed " by the way I'm not affiliated with him" he couldn't drive in harder than them because the car started getting loose on entry. The last 10 laps his car didn't look as good through the corners but his drive off was what got him there and he didn't wear his car out to get there till he needed as you said, 2nd place guy was better in the corner and into center then nights stalker would pull up off but only if his car come straight off, if he was any sideways he couldn't gain any off.
This is just my perspective of it as I watched to me motor didn't play a part, his car never bobbled until the last 10 to 15 laps as everyone else was driving the wheels off it from the start but that's what made it interesting to watch as there was racing all over. I didn't have a car in the class so it didn't matter to me who won!! Honestly I wish the white big monte would have made it in I think he could have had a shot in finishing top 5.

Looks like 2 guys DQ'd for the silly shock mount and another for the light clutch. And from the facebook page it looked like the race ended somewhere around 11pm and the winner wasn't official until 12 hours later. Yikes!
