Saw the thread on the New Smyrna pics that Dave posted, especially the one with Hanley and his "creation" with the shovel nose and the wild rear spoiler.

Well, look at what we ran at Tampa, St. Pete, and Bradenton back in the mid to late-1980s. My all-time favorite car was the red #12 that we ran in '86-'88 with Childers and Wescott. These bodies were about $200 worth of aluminum sheet to build. Got a dent? Take off the one panel, hammer it out in the driveway, pop-river it back on, and clean off the rubber and dirt with racing fuel

Thats what I'm talking about........I know it will be said that you won't be able to race anywhere else but......MOST of the guys that travel out of state to big races have more than one car. No more spec motors, 9:1 motors, steel head motors, Weight breaks, ABC bodies. Run what ya brung, let innovation come back to racing. 1 carb, 362 cu in or less, 2700lbs, roof height and track width. PERIOD!!!

Bodies can be a maximum of 80" wide; no more than 50" from center of front hub to tip of nosepiece. 40" rear spoiler height measured from ground, no wider than outside edges of body (80"). Maximum 5" spoiler from rear deck. 48" roof height; top of roll cage MUST be covered with roof. Car must weigh 8 pounds per cubic inch WITH driver and fuel; 360 cubic inches max. 74" maximum track width front and rear. 10" racing tire/wheel, any brand (Hoosier, Goodyear, American Racer, BFGoodrich, etc.) Body does NOT have to resemble any production car; must have four closed fenders, doors, hood, roof, and rear deck.

To his ears is right. I have an older Hamke chassis I could have up and running in about 2 weeks and less than 5 grand with the parts I have laying around. This would be a blast too. With a 4" ground clearance, any hubs, any rear, max 60% left side and a 15 gallons of fuel. 20 lap heats and 50 lap features. Sounds good to me.
