first of all lets talk rules........Troy it says outside of tire to tire but I have been measured several places and with that machine and its always rim to rim. Because camber and air pressure would affect it....and yes the closer to the center would be the most accurate. 8lbs of air will bulge the sidewall
Unless you run a inch of toe out and nobody does it would not affect overall wheelbase by much..I don't think anyone runs more than a 1/4 inch.
Shorter wheelbase better for short tracks and longer for big tracks..well that's the theory.
Rake....body rules.....all been thrown out the window for a long time. Jimmy cope tried to re implement it at Desoto. I have ran a half windshield since the last 3 races at Sunshine speedway......Always have......Desoto wanted to penalize....Rake and metal spoilers have became a problem for one reason in my eyes......you cant see through the car your inches behind and makes it harder to react and drive beyond the guy in front of you spoiler......less rake and lexan spoilers let you stop to avoid things or give you a extra 1/4 second to react. how many times have you hit the breaks and got planted in the rear....
And as far as the bodies....I like being able to modify and make them look good and different.......but you can and will get handling benefits for the right angles and down forces
