Doug, the measurement is from outside of tire to outside of tire, not rim. There is no rake rule, and everybody's knows how my cars are, the more wild the better, you want to run cookie cutter crap go run late model or trucks, hence the word "modified". As far as noses, who cares what anybody builds, they get tore off or up the fastest, so if you want to build them crazy it's your time not anybody else's. If everybody really wants argue go by the rule that's states all body parts must be regonizable as factory production parts. I guess everybody will be disqualified. How bout the rule that says any spring on the car will be smaller then 5 inches in diameter, if that's the case everybody needs to remove there throttle return springs. I still take pride of the rules they wrote for me "no tire bleeders or tire warmers allowed" is still in every mod rulebook. Lol.

Forgot to say, Congrats on the win Devin, heard the car was strollin, the Batman couldn't make it. Lol

Thanks Troy. The run that I got through 1 & 2 on the outside was unreal....the throttle was also sticking at about 1/4 throttle the whole race so it was tough to go into each corner and have to pull back on the gas pedal and hit the brake...definitely mentally draining for 100 laps. lol

            Wow.

The car looked smooth as greased cat poo, so you managed it well.

Was that race on the grooved tires or no?

Thank you sir! No, we were on the F-53 slick, which is what most, if not all modified drivers prefer...

I think the only places on the new grooved tire for modifieds are NSS, Bronson, and Auburndale.

If you have any toe out on the front end it shortens the wheelbase and the farther out from the wheel you take the measurement it increases the amount your short. If you were toe in the wheelbase would be longer.

The measurement needs to be taken when the toe is even. Check it before and after the race so no one is changing the toe to get thru pre tech.

And why is wheelbase so important?

I got the toe thing, but on a short track, cannot figure how a longer wb would help, especially at Showtime.

Once was at the track outside of Gainesville & they said we were too long, so we carefully shortened the rear lower links.

They removed the rake rule at showtime, just looked it up. But every other track has a 6 inch take rule, 3" from front of door to back if door, then another 3" from back of door to back of quarter panel. And the referee they used measured tread with from the outside of the rim not the outside of tire

Dalton, you might have looked at the rules but didn't read them, it clearly states 78 inches from outside of tire to outside of tire, if they measured from the wheel they did it wrong. Ask your dad, that's been the rule since I started. Read the rules again, do you have a sweet steering box or quickner, guess what, that's illegal to, by the rules. Here's another rule I know nobody has, your weight for the car should be clearly legible on the roof. Look under general rules that apply to all cars. Here's one more that I'm sure you didn't catch, do you have a clutch, guess what, you should have a STEEL bell housing not aluminum. Not trying to argue but I read the rules over and over in anything I race and like most push the envelope. You stated the rake rule and only ones changing that for around here anyways was Cope with Desoto trying to uniform his body style, that's been the same for almost 10 yrs. It works and it's simple, only difference in any of them is the wrap job, granted 5 stars making some nice looking pieces now but that doesn't mean we all have to run it. Bottom line is 90% of the time you have to point out what the rule states to the tech man, sad part is tech men have the worst most unliked job. I myself would and will never complain about another person car, my rule is you you come with a 10inch spoiler this week, next week I'm coming with 15. Lol

Hey Troy. How you been. Hey just an FYI. The referee can be calibrated to measure off of the rims to a specified number for outside of tire to tire. It is really the only acceptable method of doing it. On our super late models the measurement is actually from center to center on the tires. But it is done with the referee off of the rim. I'm sure the referee is correct if calibrated properly.

                            Have a good one!

                            Oh. Congrats to Devon!!!

Ultimately, what is "legal" is what passes tech.

Yoho is not one to trifle with, and there are DQs listed from time to time.

If he made it through tech, and was determined to be legal, and outran/outsmarted/outlasted Dickie Anderson and Wayne Jefferson--in their "legal" cars--and collected the big payday and left with it--he was legal in my book.
