TWO 50-LAP RACES SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT AT NEW SMYRNA
    SPEEDWAY - SPECTATOR RACING RETURNS

Week number five of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series at New Smyrna
Speedway will feature 50-lap contests for the Super Stocks and the Sunshine
Seamless Gutters Mini Stock class along with Bomber action and the return of
Spectator Racing for the first time in the 2015 season. It will also be the
first "Fan Appreciation Night" with adult admission just five dollars for the
    evening of racing.
Justin Reynolds has visited victory lane both times the Super Stocks have run
this year and has a big win streak going back in 50-lap events for the class
dating back to the 2013 season. Reynolds currently has a six point lead in
the Super Stock standings over defending champion Shannon Kelly who looked to
have the field covered two weeks ago before losing control of his mount after
a late race restart allowing Reynolds to claim yet another victory. Preston
Hunt is currently third in points, seven markers behind the leader while Bobby
Holley is ten points back in fourth.
Ted Vulpius has dominated the Mini Stock action so far this year in the Guy
Callon entry but should have a host of extra challengers this week aiming for
the $600 first place prize that is up for grabs. Vulpius is five points up on
second place Brad Blanton and nine ahead of third place David Russell in the
    current Mini Stock points chase.
In four weeks there have been four different Bomber winners but "Shockwave"
Shane Sutorus has been the most consistent so far and took his first win last
week allowing him to pad his point lead to 13 over second place James Skinner.
Aaron Overman is 18 points back in third spot.
Spectator races will be held during intermission and the event is open to
anyone (with a valid driver's license). All cars and trucks are eligible to
take part, just no convertibles and no motorcycles. Drivers must also have
(or borrow) a helmet in order to compete and you need to sign up at the pit
    gate before intermission.
Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 4 pm with open practice from 5-6 pm.
Grandstand gates open at 6 pm with qualifying for the Super Stocks and
Sunshine Seamless Gutters Mini Stocks beginning at 6:15 pm. Racing begins at
7:30 pm with heat racing for the Bombers followed by the 50-lap feature for
the Super Stocks. Spectator Racing will take place during intermission, then
after intermission it will be 50 laps for the Sunshine Seamless Gutters Mini
Stocks with the Bombers wrapping up the evening of action with a 20-lap run.
Once again, adult admission for "Fan Appreciation Night" is just $5 with all
kids aged 11 and under being admitted free.
We would also like to wish New Smyrna Speedway official photographer Jim Jones
    a happy 60th birthday!

While I see the benefit of having a Fan Appreciation day and offer discounted tix and concession prices......Why only run the lower (by lower I mean payout for the track) classes and only the 3 slowest classes?
Hopefully the low cost tix brings out new fans.....this is the show you want them to see? While all 3 classes have good drivers and good racing, you really need to have at the very least the modifieds or sportsman run. Besides giving them a complete show let them see some full blown race cars.

I always said that when they had the HUGE crash a rama events at OSW, with 8K-10K potential fans, they should have opened the show with a 25 lap dash for cash $5K SLM race and invite the top 20-25 drivers and pay them to show up......let those 10K people see what they were missing.

The Super Stock class is awesome and they should have a decent car count, but how many Mini Stocks will show up. I can see why fans would choose to stay home Saturday. Iffy forecast and a 50 lap mini stock race with 7 maybe 8 cars... I think they should have had one more class running at least.

            Dude, maybe try prunes?

Actually, am not a bubbly blue sky optimist myself (ya think?), but if I stare at the glass long enough I find that it is in fact half full. It does not come naturally, I have to work at it...

You might try that sometime, the big winner will be the Shortracker.

            And have a sparkling weekend!
