Desoto Super Race

To me the solution, as a racer, is simple. It's one of those things that help you decide where to race. Do they at least try to make the call, without copping out and do it fairly regardless of who's involved? That's where I want to race. For the record, I can't remember a call made at Desoto or NSS that comes to mind that I have disagreed with. I'm sure they've screwed the pooch at some point, I just haven't witnessed it.

Guest repliedScott, often times I have notice the officials have a tendency to let stuff slide or give extra leeway in fear of damaging relationships. Being an official is a difficult job and unfortunately it seems very difficult to have a completely unbiased officiating crew, which imo is really what is needed to make correct calls 99% of the time. Other times, I have personally listened over the radio to "higher up" officials telling corner works to let something slide which is also no bueno... If you have done wrong, it's plain and simple. "I'm not sure what you're proposing as a solution. Everytime contact is made and someone goes spinning some kind of call has to be made. Whether you decide it was just racing and do nothing or assign blame a call still is being made. Look, I understand officials are human and make mistakes but to let everything go would be anarchy and to send all cars involved to the rear is chicken sh*t officiating. BTW, no SUDS on the job, ever...."--SG
re: work, offhand comment, forget it.
I agree with all that you typed. Like me, no solution, though...don't know if there is a solution.
The only "right" way to do it is for someone that is saavy make the calls and that is that.
In the case of St Pete, that is Yoho, and even he only nails it part of the time.
I could make the calls (lol) but they ain't askin'!Last edited by OldSchool+; 04-09-2015, 01:19 PM.

Of course not. Am not sure everybody but me is not drinking today...
But here is the deal. Excepting the Scofield discussion, if someone is "under" you to the door, it is their spot. You "cut down"--your bad (as you mention).
Conversely speaking, they clip your quarter from the wheel back--their bad.
That leaves about two feet of real estate moving and changing at 80+ mph between those two points to fight over/about, and disagreements are inevitable.
It's just...most of the time the officials get involved it is the wrong call, IMO.
BUT, that is one thing about Showtime, regardless, it is quick, and quicker if they don't comply. Keeps the show moving.

I wish for everyone to race everyone as they wish to be raced themselves and when they don't that the officials have the balls to make the right call. I TRY to race everyone clean. I came from a place where that wasn't the norm. Watching Patrick Thomas after I moved here taught me the RIGHT WAY to get it done in FL. However, nothing pisses me off more than being patient and finally getting under a car and having them chop you. Being sent to the rear is no deterrence for me, I will flat out dump you for that. You cited one of the many reasons I don't go Auburndale. However, nothing makes racing more "not affordable" than anything are antics like Scofield pulls. I hate working on my car to fix what stupidity has caused instead of working on it to make it faster. Without "control" there is "chaos". You're not one of those that goes to see the wrecks are you OS? Lol.Originally posted by OldSchool+ View PostAm glad Dutilly responded.
That, suspensions and no ride are all that will change the outlook.
There have always been guys like that. As long as there are car owners that will fix the car and track owners that let them come, there always will be.
But I will tell you, I HAVE SEEN FAR MORE TRACK CALLS ERRING ON THE SIDE OF "CLEAN RACING" THAT HAVE CAUSED THE SHOW TO LOOK LIKE A POWDERPUFF DERBY THAN THE OTHER DIRECTION...
Ironically, Auburndale comes to mind. One groove track. Get under a guy, he knocks you in the infield, he gets his spot back, you are lucky if all you get is sent to the rear.
Careful whatcha wish for and all that.

Am not sure we all don't qualify for that to some extent.
But you are still "The Man" in my book. Let me know if I ever cross the line re: your feelings.

I am just naturally a basket case.
You all will have to deal with it rather than ignore the content of my eloquent posts and blame it on drankin' as opposed to responding intelligently.
Thanks for your concern, though.

I agree 100%. When we first started this venture it was with the intention of building a professional racing career. Fast forward 6 years and we are farther away then we started. We felt like we had 2 options: quit racing all together or try something different. We decided to go dirt racing and the rest as they is history.Originally posted by OldSchool+ View PostHere is a guess.
Asphalt racing is a bit big for it's britches (as am I {heavy sigh...}).
That is, the cars look a little like Cup cars from a few years back, folks spend (IMO) stupid money, the tracks have "big" events, it is looked at as a stepping stone to "bigger" things by everyone involved.
Meanwhile Joe Bob Racer is behind on the payments on the double-wide.
Dirt racing has no such delusions, and although there are big money cars and series, it seems more about the racing than the politics.
Am I wrong (hey, it happens, and frequently {heavy sigh II...}).

Jesse Dutilly. Passed Scofield 3 times CLEAN on the outside. Made slight incidental contact the last time by (just racing) and Scofield "flipped the switch" and walled him. Then the usual mayhem...Originally posted by dd38 View PostWho was driving the 30?
