For the feature, complete invert from last week feature, new racers for this week, to the back.

For the heat races invert point funds standing, last in point starts 1st in heat one, next to last in point starts 1st in heat 2, and so on.

To make sure everyone races at the top capacity, pay feature and heat races, points and money.

Perfect system? Nope. But easy to understand, to work with, and entertaining for the fans, which should always comes 1st.

      Phil--Gotcha.

If you can run a 15 flat off your dial in of 15.50 and then slow down before the start/finish line every lap...seems legal to me. But no advantage, especially to your rear bumper.

Another potential advantage. Payout for 3 races may be less than for 12, assuming the gate stays the same, it may save the track money, net-net.

The advantage is that guys behind you may not realize what you are doing in turn, causing them to break out and be disqualified trying to keep up with you losing track of what is going on. That's why it's advantageous in drag racing.

Actually,OSW had 36 cars compared to a dismal 39 at NSB

Matt, I have to respectfully disagree. There is nothing that will stop racers from trying to game the system.

Andre, I love the simplicity and effectiveness of the system that you describe.

Yep, their bad, then. Everybody could run straight up without the chicanery, and if they don't, more fun for the fans.

I too agree with Andre generally, except I would run the whole deal week after week as mentioned: Qualify, invert. Run heats, invert again. Last week's, or the last 12 week's finishes are neither here nor there this week.

That way it is easy to understand for any outsiders that haven't "played" yet, and at the end of the season, the points are tallied on Feature finishes only, and they will add up just fine.

Yes. I saw an old man in a early 70's Ford pickup with the stock worn out 302 and a set of slicks take home the money 3 weekends in a row up here a few years ago because he hit his numbers every time. he would get such a head start everyone would break out trying to make up the gap.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.
