Josh (ss82): I stand corrected. You are right that Desoto still allows it with the 100lb penalty. I'll take your word on Auburndale since I won't go there. I wouldn't have a problem going to Bronson if they had the weight penalty since 100lbs also is huge and with the extra weight spending all that money for an even swap doesn't make sense. Josh, are you coming to Desoto Saturday?
Scott Prentice: Thanks for the well wishes for 2015. Awesome news about Lake City from Jim. Whenever it's reopened after the paving I will be there for sure! Maybe somebody can talk some sense in whoever running tech at Bronson. Add the 100 lbs for the super clutch. It will draw more cars than it shoos. If they did I would definitely come up at some point this year. Probably August when Desoto is off. Thanks for keeping us updated on Bronson. If it wasn't for you, I'd have no idea what goes on up there.
I do have to say I agree with the weight penalty, because if it were the other way around I wouldn't want to race them straight up. I wish all the tracks would allow them with the weight penalty because I feel they would get more cars that do run them, but I'm thankful for the few that do because I don't have any of my big clutch stuff anymore. Although I'm probably going to have to bite the bullet here pretty soon to buy it all again if i want to travel around.
I might be there just to watch. I've been getting stuff little by little to get the car back together, but won't make this one. I've had so much going on and slammed with work, so no real time to work on it. Should be on my jig in the next couple of weeks to see if the clips are salvageable and go from there. Sucks because it WAS a brand new car Lol. Brought it out to the 75 lapper at Auburndale to just shake it down and get some laps and broke a trans in practice, along with a trailing arm bracket the night before. Fixed all of that and tested at Desoto and had a very good car off of the trailer. Then was lucky enough to get rained out the next day Lol. So, changed a couple things and went back to Auburndale for the charity race to try to get a race in finally. Then in practice, on the first lap at speed the throttle hung and I stuffed it in the wall. So I guess you could say I'm having a good time with this new car Lol
Thanks jacko241. Something I've learned over the last few years is sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh at your own misfortunes. It might sound dumb, but it's the truth. And trust me, if you laugh at your own bad luck and mistakes, you will have more fun. There's been plenty of times I've been really upset after something happened, (and I'm not saying it won't happen in the future) but in the end it doesn't change what happened, you just have to deal with the hand you are dealt. And as far as things like the clutch deal goes, I was (still am) the guy that couldn't afford the newest and highest dollar equipment. So I have no problem looking at it from the perspective of the guy the can't afford this or that, or instead of spending that $1000 on a new lightweight clutch when the one in the car is just fine, can put it to better use. If you have a set of rules that allow you to have different weights or restrictions for different combinations, you should have more cars and should make more people happy. Notice I said should Lol. And by no means am I complaining about the rules in the class, actually I think some areas should be opened up a little more, but that is a whole other can of worms Lol
I completely agree with you, make it easier on everyone and the car count should go up. Anyway, you seem like the kind of guy I like to race with.
You hit the nail on the head, Joe. Josh (ss82) is a great guy to race with. First time I raced with him we ran door to door and swapped positions a few times and it was a blast. He beat me and after the race I went down and congratulated him and made a new friend. Josh may be a young man (at least compared to me) but he ain't racing on a rich Daddy's money. He works hard for what he has, but his attitude about the sport and the way he races with respect is beyond his years. Sorry about your tough luck, Josh. But keep at it. You'll be back better than ever. Hope to see you back out there real soon!
