That a good car count. I'm not that much into road racing and don't know that much about it. I do know some people who do road race. Seems like they don't race as much as oval track guys.

Modracer22 is correct. Road racers usually run 10 to 15 events per year.

I think we will see more of this in the oval track world. Most racers are already strapped for money and run once or twice a month. Especially long haul guys. I think you will see more large payout races with extended laps but less races per month at any one given track. I bet it is not too long before a lot of tracks go to every other week. What makes a promoter more, open the gates 2 times per month get 100 cars per night and 800 fans or race every week get 50 cars per night and 400 fans. Half the expenses for the same number of customers per month.

TRUE, there are tracks already doing that. I am hoping to be able to pull off my idea but am very ready to listen to reason. Plans are to POST the schedule BEFORE December and get the feedback back in time to open in March.
If you want a car count look at WKA karts in Daytona at Christmas!!

There are now 73 entry's in Group 6 "Big Bore Group" at Daytona for the Central Florida Region SCCA races. The V8 StockCar group is there with about 50 of these participating in V8 GT-1 (Trans Am types & Speed GT)
V8 SPO (cup and high hp super lates) and V8 GTA (500 HP lates and ex ASA).

Included are Dave Machavern former Grand Am Champ, Scott Lagasse Jr, Larry Hoopaugh (3 time Nascar Dash champ) and whole lot more very competitive drivers in very fast machines.

Non SCCA members can attend by showing up at the registration building near the new tunnel prior to 1100 hrs on sat or sun morning. Ask to be a guest of the region. Enter off Williamson blvd.

Todd, you can go just about anywhere except pit road. The garage area is open and with more than 350 cars most will be out in the infield.

I didn't enter soon enough to get a garage, so will probably paddock in the area just east of the false grid. If you make it over, come by, we race the #5 Yellow Mo's Gold Monte Carlo. (ASA Delco type chassis with 18 degree SBC)

SCCA may charge 5 dollars for a guest pass, sometimes they don't charge at all.

Also some of the gate guards at other entrances may tell you it is a private event, however you can get in if you make it to the SCCA registration on time.

                      some missing info

SCCA,I loved racing that too,so know both sides, but for the most part the SCCA racers are Dr.,law, higher payed guys etc.,not all but most vs ovel weekend nite races are not for the most part in the high pay scale.
Point is there is a def in $ for hobbie type racing and time to do it.
Also I'd like to add that over many years of racing ,shows at ovel tracks that don't go every week drop car count, not add it,those class's that get left out time after time fade away. The racers find other stuff to do that takes over there time after only a few weeks or so with out races. We all do what ever is the most fun when it's a hobby.
Trying to compair the two types of racing is very off the mark.
