Not to state the obvious, but the DirtCarNationals is right around the corner featuring both series with lots of crossover between the teams. All at a Dirt owned (WoO) track! Could make for some interesting times if anything out of the ordinary occurs..

Think about it though. To a potential (and newbie) sponsor, which sells better:
a) Yes, we race with Tony Stewart's All Star Series, or
b) Yeah, we race with the "World of Outlaws"
If you are, say, fruit of the loom (!), which one sounds like it will move more speedos?
A question: If you race with a given series, say the WoO or, for that matter, TBARA, does that absolutely preclude you from racing with another series (as was the case with NASCAR drivers in the 60s)?
Most of the "big names" in the All-Star series also race at various WoO shows during the year. The big money shows, and most of the northeastern swings you see All-Star guys in the field. But the WoO contracts do limit their drivers running other races without permission. Jason Sides was denied around $40,000 in money and perks because he ran a non-sanctioned race in North Dakota without proper permission, which they ended up fighting out in court.

When WoO began in the late 70's they were highly critical of the way USAC did the same thing regarding their permission to run other non-USAC races and allowing temp permits.
They are very much now like USAC was back then.
