So juvenile......yet so VERY FUNNY, EZ (and yes you too Don). ToucheŽ.

BTW Don, where did you take that job in racing? (So I can avoid it like the plague!)

      Happy New Year everyone!

In the "kick him while he is down" dept, it was all going so well until the "touch-e" part...

Happy New Years to you as well, Mr. Garrity!

Say, are your sheet metal "issues" and Patrick's "related"?

Lol, Old School. I don't have any sheet metal issues. I run the ABC Late Model body on my car. Not because I have $ though. Just the opposite. My car had it when I bought it and it had been cheaper to maintain in one panel at a time then to completely switch to the aluminum Outlaw body. I also have an old boat guy who fixes the fibreglass when it gets damaged (he's not gay either). Lol.

I think that you and Don would get along good if you would let him say his peace, before you try to shut him off. I think the two are a lot alike. It's just y'all both wear blinders and are not open to new things unless you came up with it

XRacer--Seriously, with all due respect, I will have to disagree.

Am not saying one is "better" or "right" all the time, but them peas is from different pods, in my opinion.

This is how they strike me:

Don is the epitome of oldschool, money in the suitcase, barnstorming, handshake behind the back promoter. Along the way I believe he has brought a lot of racing to the area.

Scott is a younger (um, relative to me...) heads up, study-the-problem-not-the-guy racer, and promotin' and racin' have always been on the opposite, if not opposing, ends o the stick.

I also would suggest that Don pretty much can communicate what, if, and when he wants to. And does.

              Again, no offense intended.

Ironically, Don & Frasson seem similar in print to me, but I really do not know either gentleman enough to make that call...

Scott, the term "sheet metal" referred to anything this side of the cage, but am glad you have a plan & hope to see the car back in action soon.

This is how I see em now:

We are not back to the fly jokes, correct?

Curious how one's (that is, my) opinion seems like the objective truth, but other's opinions are significantly different.

Happens all the time in the grandstand. Everybody sees the same "incident", but invariably there are two camps that want to strongly argue different opinions about "what happened".

I like Wayne Jefferson. At the Eddie Brann race he drove through another guy (imo). I still like Wayne, and he still drove through him. Seems a lot of folks have trouble separating the deal from the guy.

Ain't saying that is what is currently happening, jus' saying it's popular.

Wow, way off topic again but thanks Old School. I have to agree with your asessment except promoters AND racers need to get on the same side of things before there's nothing left to promote. I think on this tire deal WE ALL WON. I'm pretty confident that at least the Sportsman on down are going to the R750 very soon. I don't care who's idea it was, I just wanted to (and will be able to) afford to race more. That was the whole point.

"...promoters AND racers need to get on the same side of things before there's nothing left to promote."--SG

Wow, you make it simple! Just do it Don's (or Yoho's, or etc.) way!

I agree in principle but there is a difference.

The promoters set the rules. Period. The racers can theoretically stay home, but...no they can't--or some of them can't, because it is racing, and racing is the emotional equivalent to an addictive drug. They cannot get away, and they will get to the race track as long as the credit line will let them.

The promoter--one guy--is going to lose about 5 or 10K and then lock the gate. And be cool with it.

So, am suggesting that emotionally, it is a different game. They both like The Sport, but the promoter can get away.

Now, all that said, you are right, they want and need to make a buck. They like racing--and like being the center of a "big show", not a 5 car loser field.

SO, the promoter has a vested (sometimes heavily vested) interest in protecting the racer. As you mention, regardless of the chicken or de egg thing, it sure sounds like the new tire will do just that.

No sweat EZ. You and Lurkin always provide awesome zingers on here AND serious and thoughtful insight when those times arise. You're some of the ones that make this board great (despite what the detractors say). Besides (oh boy, I'm gonna set myself up again) I've always said "If you're gonna give it, you gotta be able to take it".
