Easy fix would of been to not allow anyone on pit road at all. 2 crew guys push the cars down then you walk off pit road in turn 1 and not be anywhere near the cars after qualifying. Or like Ricky does at pcola they need some poles and rope off the cars so it is very clear not to go near the cars. The way they did it there was to much grey area on letting officials make a judgement call on who was with what car and what was to close.

And $5000 would be on the light side of expenses for a race like the gov cup for a top level team

I'm not sure, Old School. I didn't get to witness that deal. I did notice that Nasse conducted himself with class when interviewed. Despite the disappointment of setting fast time only to be sent to the tail end for the impound infraction he expressed no sour grapes and took ownership of the deal by stating that it was "our fault" and said that he felt confident that he could get back to the front. I didn't see the incident that took him out but he was moving up rapidly prior to that happening.

As far as my motor deal, well my crate is four years old without a freshen. The old gal may have finally seen her day. I can't complain. She's never given me any problems until now. I think I've gotten my $3000 worth out of her!

NO ONE went to Cope's car...Travis walked AWAY from the car to talk with his dad @ the wall....I call his being sent to the rear as total Bull Shitsky....OSF

Great response, that was my point, pit road was pretty much open to the general public, I agree with the rule also, but having 3 officials watch 38 cars is impossible. Pit road should have been closed to any and all persons once the cars were push up and off. End of my bitching, next time I will stay in the grandstands where I belong...lol Vince P.

Last year I was coming down pit road and when I dropped my window net the bar came out of the net and fell off my car, one of the guys that was with us grabbed it so that nobody would take it, trip over it, run over it, etc and Ricky sent me to the rear. I maybe agree with touching the car as they do not know what you are doing but that was a piece of the car, not affecting anything, 20 feet away from my car, the guy just thought he was doing the right thing. Should he have left it there for someone to run over? It's very hard for a team to make it to the track, I can barely get a few guys there to help me so sometimes they don't make it until qualifying or even race time, should I pull them aside and say look, if a window net bar falls off the car don't touch it, in the middle of picking tires, fueling the car, going to drivers meetings, running around like maniacs just trying to get our shit together for the race? To me the rule has gone way too far, but that's Ricky, what can you do, you gotta take the good with the bad.
