  • Governor's Cup To Air Live on Speed51 TV

From Speed51 and New Smyrna Speedway:

Some of the biggest names in short track racing have won the prestigious Florida Governor's Cup 200 since its inception in 1963. When the green flag flies for this year's 49th running of the 200-lap Super Late Model event at New Smyrna Speedway this November, fans across the globe will have the opportunity to watch live as the nation's top short trackers try to add their name to the illustrious Governor's Cup win list.

51 TV, a division of short track news and information leader Speed51.com, will broadcast the action of the 49th Annual Florida Governor's Cup at New Smyrna November 22 and 23.

"We are excited to partner with Speed51.com and 51 TV to make the Governor's Cup races available for the fans and supporters of short track racing that can't make it to the track this November," said Robert Hart, owner and promoter of New Smyrna Speedway. "The Governor's Cup event is rich in history and has drawn a lot of attention from the entire motorsports industry over the years. We're proud that drivers from all over the map compete in this event each year and I know they will have a lot of support from the fans both at the track and their hometown fans tuning into the live broadcast on 51 TV."

Alabama short track ace Augie Grill has won the past two Governor's Cup 200 Super Late Model events at the half-mile New Smyrna Speedway. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular and Michigan native Erik Jones won the 2011 edition of the Governor's Cup. Before those out-of-towners picked up victories in the Governor's Cup, Florida legends such as David Rogers, Mike Fritts, Wayne Anderson, Gary Balough, Pete Orr, Bobby Gill and Dick Anderson were among the winners of one of their home state's most prestigious racing events, while Ed Howe, Freddy Fryer and Dick Trickle were other legendary names added to the Governor's Cup win list over the years.

"The names of the drivers of the Governor's Cup alone makes it one of the most historic races in all of short track racing," said Bob Dillner, motorsports broadcaster and owner of Speed51.com and 51 TV. "We're proud to be able to bring this exciting event and all its rich history to the fans on 51 TV this November. Robert and Jane Hart and their staff have a first-class facility near the beach in New Smyrna and it's going to be a great opportunity for fans to experience all the great racing that track has to offer."

51 TV will feature a live broadcast of both the Pro Late Model 50-lap feature on Saturday, November 22 and the Sunday, November 23 Super Late Model Governor's Cup 200. Pay-per-view package pricing and further details regarding the 51 TV live video broadcast of the Governor's Cup weekend will be announced in the coming days.

New Smyrna Speedway officials will make additional announcements regarding the Governor’s Cup 200 in the coming days, as well.
