I saw the recent addition of 5k making it 15k to the winners and also the new ring being put together. Along with everything else they are doing, I have to say they are doing it right.

What is the latest on pre-entries? I would hope with that kind of money up and the prestige that the race has, it should be another impressive list.

That ring is beautiful. I've always been surprised that track champions and major race winners don't receive nice rings instead of jackets.
I live right down the road from New Smyrna, so i consider it my home track. Along with the current Desoto, they are two of the best tracks in Florida. I don't know why every driver in the Southeast doesn't come to the Gov Cup. I've noticed that more and more big names are showing up though.

Honestly the extra 5 grand is nice but that just puts its about the same as every other big race in the country that takes a minimum of 8 tires to run. The problem is the pay out thru the field. Minus the 1st place money the payout isnt much different than a normal brighthouse race. Thats where alot of teams find it hard to come down for 3 days and race. I hope to see 30 plus cars for sure

For this particular race, as a fan, I'm not too concerned with seeing late models running for 10th place anyway. The 15 grand, ring, and prestige should bring down some top notch teams going for the W!

Would be nice to get a pre-entry list up to help build the excitement!

It's probably one of the top 5 super late model races. Atleast in the southeast race hub. What would be really cool is if some how take 2 more big races somewhere and call it The Triple Crown . I think it's not the money factor for super late models( you shouldn't be racing for 2nd in a race like this anyways) . A lot of the Bruce Lawrence's, jack cooks, the late Pete Orr and even the burketts aren't around any more. Those guys not only were great but the had character. We need more of that .
