A series in any class will not work unless EVERY track you travel to has a full field of their own local cars... History has proven this time and time again.
You can only count on maybe 10-12 racers to follow any series faithfully and you're always going to have locals that can't afford new tires, entry fees etc that the series would require, or are running for a local championship and don't want to risk their car in a series race.
I don't understand why everybody wants a "series". The Mini Stock Challenge series damn near killed that class. The last Sportsman Series took over half the local cars from Citrus which at the time was averaging over 20 every Saturday. Most racers dedicate their time and resources to one deal. Either they race only a "series" or only for the local points championship.
The ones that choose to chase the Series usually either don't finish the season because the costs of "keeping up with the Jones" is so much higher or if they do finish they take the next year off, some quit all together because going back to their local track feels more like a demotion.
In my opinion, enough of the series talk in all classes. If you wanna travel do you really need an organized sanctioning body? Local tracks are struggling enough. The last thing they need is another series taking half their cars.
