With the Jack Smith Memorial race next weekend I would like everyone to leave a comment here of your favorite memory of Jack or what he meant to you. I am going to try and put it in the program for the race.

My Buddy Jack!

I have many memories of Jack but I think my favorite is the late night talks him and I had on the phone. We probably touched on every subject the racing community ever had at one time. He was pleased with his radio shows and we talked about doing a TV show. He thought that it was the progression of his work. Thus was birthed Turn Five Racing. I was not as sure as him that it would be as well received as he thought, so I dragged my feet and he got sick and the rest is history. I only wish he could be here to see it now. Every show we do has Jacks name on it. We don't have the support financially I'd like to see but the racing community seems to like it so "ITS FOR YOU JACK"!!!!!

i remember jack mostly for his coverage of speedweek at East Bay. Was always able to get a brief conversation with him even though he was busy. His passion for the sport was second to none. i posted on a thread years back and got a PM from jack about my post ( he didn't post much on the board) agreeing with what i had written. it was like getting a letter from the president.
