i notice they didn't ask Tony's opinion of Goodyear after this race. i wonder why that is?

i suspect Mark Martin may also have been a bit hot under the collar for one of the few times in his career. that didn't turn out anything like he thought it was gonna.

Hot Topics on Dave Despain should be funny tonight.

    Good--year ??

Think not......I just bought two new goodyear sportsman tires last night.
Made in Canada, no lettering, not even goodyear on them. Hope they last longer than those today at Indy.

Yeah the race may have been a joke but it wasn't funny. I agree that ticket holders should get a break for next year but it will never happen. I was at a race several years ago at Dover when they did the whole competition caution for the first part of the race. As a spectator, I had no idea what was going on. I was listening to the scanner and kept hearing the crew chiefs telling their drivers there would be a caution at lap so and so. I finally found out what was going on by tuning in MRN and listening to them for a while. I believe that was the first time I'd ever seen it done.
I can understand why they did it but after the first couple runs they should have let the teams race and pit when they needed to. I couldn't believe they started closing the pits before the caution, because some teams were starting to short pit. I thought that was smart. I was even yelling at my tv, with 13 laps to go, for Reutiman to short pit before the last caution to get track position. I couldn't believe none of the teams tried it then. Really, todays race was a televised test session.

yeah, that was po'ing me too. the only racing they had going on was the field getting jumbled by guys short pitting or taking two tires instead of four.

so, of course, we had to close pit entrance for the two laps prior to the comp caution. :thereaintarolleyesbigenough:

i also noticed that they had a bad habit of throwing the comp caution as Edwards was trying to make a pass when the leader wasn't even to turn 4 yet. that's NASCAR, showing it's "unbiased" side again.

            Made in Canada

i've heard the "made in Canada" Goodyears are crap. well, crappier than an American Goodyear anyway. take it with a grain of salt but it would be nice if you'd check back and let us know what you find out.

one weird thing that got pointed out while we were watching the race, did you see that pan of rubber they swept up off the track?

no balls or worms, it was all dust. strangest rubber i've ever seen.

              Dem Tires

Todd, after I bought these tires someone, who had them on their car, said they were worn out after only 3 races. We run 30 lappers at Bronson and 6 lap heats. I'll let you know about these tires on my car.

Hmmmm Can you say that that was in the least sucking Dog doody... Fine the tires were crap... I cannot believe that no one knew that this was going to happen before especially with all the testing that they do... It seems to me that they might have tried some different compounds especially when they knew the problem existed ahead of time...

But of course the almighty dollar shines and no one will probably get a break for anything...

                Have a great day all...

I noticed that myself, also, did you see at one point when they showed a tire for a while on camera that it looked like a glorified recap (in design). A patch of rubber laid on a tire, the wear bars (holes) were still visible where the cords were showing on the edge and middle of the tire.

Dust instead of chunks? hmm.......maybe a little overboard on the polymers and additives instead of good old rubber?

Awful cheezee for $1700 a set.

Good Luck to Tony George trying to sell 300,000 tickets next year. I saw a ton of empty seats this year, and next year will be MUCH worse. It sucks for Tony, as I don't think he had any control of this crappy situation, yet he will lose the most cash and credibility for it.... Goodyear is on their way to the bank right now with armored cars full of cash.

Goodyear owes it to both the Speedway and fans to cover the cost of next years race. I think the novelty of racing there was almost worn off anyways, and this sure isn't gonna put any additional asses in seats next year.

As much as I hate Unions, yesterday would have been a good time to have one. The drivers, as a group, should have pulled in the pits somewhere before halfway, and refused to go back out until another tire was provided to them. This way, Nascar couldn't call the race "official", the fans would've gotten to see at least half of a RACE (although they may have had to come back later to get it), and Goodyear would've had to account for their mistakes.

The way it ended up, everyone but Goodyear got ripped off. Can't wait to hear what Tony Stewarts got to say!

theyshould have called the race gave money back

can you believe that good year can't make a tire that would last 7 laps . you call that racing . why didn't they just park cars and have crash a rama or beer party - any thing would have been better than what they had .

all people they have at good year thats best they could come upwith . ok lets blame it on race track ... no lets blame it on tony he should have figured it out he is only one with balls to speak up why have a safe car like nascar has now and have junk tires that might blow any time .

that would be like me running recaps on front of my wreckers and car transport trucks and then re groveing them yea thats what i'll do and then stop ever 7 miles and change them all right ever body give me hell

The ONLY thing that would have made that race worth a darn would have been double file restarts!

WOW roundie, sorry you cashed in your 401k and put it all in Good-Year stock. I'd prefer the USA tire, but we have to buy what the track has so Bitch to them. An actual racer would know that though.
