The Crane Cams V8 StockCar Series racers' head to the "World Center of Racing", Daytona International Speedway for the SARRC Invitational Challenge on September 27 & 28. The change in SARRC venue from previous years is expected make for a larger field and hot competition. A big bore group of thirty plus ground pounders should take the green led by GT1 point leaders Ray Webb and Juan Vento in their Corvette's. Webb leads in points via virtue of his consistent podium finishes, while Vento has the most wins and fast race laps.

GT-2 may be the most hotly contested class as points leader Randy Kinsland (CrossRoads Motorsports Corvette), Bobby Kennedy (Kennedy Kars/Bemco Mustang) and Ricky Sanders (PitBoxes.com Camaro) are all capable of running right on the class track record (1:55 and change) set in August by Adam Andretti. In addition, Richard Smith in his Miami Fastlane Mazda RX7 and Carl Wingo in a brand new Howe Mustang TA2 will be ready to pounce if the others slip a bit.

In SPO, V8 SC points leader Jeff Hinkle has been fast everywhere this year in his ex Penske Racing Dodge Charger including at Daytona in August. Jeff's Dad, Harry Hinkle has been quickly improving in his own ex Penske Dodge. The duo will try to keep SARRC points leader Lee Arnold (ex Ken Schrader/Boris Said Impala) in their rear view mirror. Look for these three to run closely together throughout the race.

GTA should be quite a shootout with three time class champ Randy Walker battling with veterans like Bob Davis in his Aqua Pro Pools & Spa's late model type Monte Carlo, Jim Matheson in his Matheson-Ball Assoc. Grand Prix, Hall Robertson in the Ciraco Underground Monte Carlo, Randy Sampson in the Custom Air Camaro and firefighter Chad Jorgensen in his Olds Cutlass . Two relative newcomers to the GTA class could upset the apple cart. Former IMSA Kelly Series Champ Vern Smith in his White Rose Engineering Monte Carlo and Auburn University student Andrew Rains in his Rains Racing Ford Taurus were very fast in August at Daytona with both cutting laps under 2:00 and taking wins.

The group and class points leaders after the SIC will move on to the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta October 31-November 2, where the class Championships will be decided.

Come check out the Crane Cams V8 StockCar Series for some great big bore grassroots road racing.

Its a different experience that's for sure. I enjoyed it, but its not short track racing.

Different strokes for different folks! I raced in circles for 20+years but have had more fun in this car on amazing tracks!

*unedited so racing doesn't start til 4:40, missed downshift around 8 minutes, hood failure at 9 something.LOL!

Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

That LS1 powered LTD is a full blown race car underneath. After Daytona, we added some bigger brakes and a few other things(wink, wink) and kicked that car's ass at Sebring a few weeks ago! Could have been different drivers though. Makes a big difference which I'm sure you already know!
