I won't spoil it for ya, but if you want to see some phenomenal racing check out the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event from this past weekend from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It will re-air at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon on Fox Sports 1 AND again at 9:00 p.m. on Fox Sports 2.

I see where a lot of the Whelen guys will team up with the ROC and Valenti tour mods for a "Tri Track" event at Seekonk Speedway in Mass. this coming Wednesday (mid week racing?) The first show of this series was at Star Speedway in Epping, NH, and had a total purse of $46,600 of which $6750 went to the winner. Thirty three mods showed up and 24 started. Every car that started was guaranteed $1000. I think it was 100 or 125 laps.
Roughly, a similar payout is expected for the Seekonk show with the winner taking home $10,000 and last place paying a grand. I wish we could drum up this kind of racing down here.

The only hope is with the backstretch grandstands at Daytona slated to be razed, that a true NASCAR Whelen North/South points paying event be added to the World Series at New Smyrna. There's supposed to be a KOMA Mod Tour race at Bronson in the fall, but it remains to be seen if that happens. Even if it does, the car count probably will be small.Last edited by scottgarrity07; 07-19-2014, 01:50 PM.

Well, OSF, if you haven't had your fill of Tour Mod racing, the Whelen All Star Shootout (also run last weekend in NH) will air tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. It features 2-20 lap segments of Tour Mod style restrictor plate racing replete with drafting, slingshot moves and crossover maneuvers. Should be more great racing!
