    I dont quite understand gary

Your post says late model 50 lap feature, but then you talk about a 25 lap feature. So are you saying you are running twin 25s or just that you are cutting the program to one 25 lap feature for the late models? The last time I was there (last season) you ran a 50 lap late model feature (with heats) and your program was over by 10 minutes after 9pm.You already have one of the more expensive gate prices in the state. If you continue to shrink your show what is left for us the fans who pay to get in and watch?Yes I understand it will be somewhat cost effective for the race teams but I wouldn't go to a movie and pay to get in just to see the trailers because it saved the theatre owner or movie companies money.

        So basically Rick

You guys are giving up the idea of drawing fans from a wider area than Inverness? I just cant fathom how many people coming from any kind of distance would travel to a race card that could end so early in the evening.

Aside from the fact that Citrus begins the races almost 2 hours earlier than anyone else, and they have an 11pm curfew, why in the hell would you want to be out all night anyway? If anything, the fact that he's trying to get people home sooner would be a plus to new fans heading from the south, considering we wouldn't get home until midnight or 1 am with the drive to Tampa of he drug out the show.

            Answer

The answer is Gary is trying something different, to save some money for the drivers with tires. The Late Model guys that have raced the 50 lappers have been pretty much the same group with a few exceptions for a while. Usually around the same number. Some of them requested this, so he is going to try it. It is worth a try, but I simply try to get the info out for him, he talks with me about these things and he goes from there. Thanks

Wow more bashing….. really gets old

No matter what he does, someone has to bash, make rude comments. It really gets old.

                        Mr. B.

Some thoughts with you in mind, sir:

                        >Clearly you are passionate and put a lot of time into the sport.

                        >Also clearly the the peanut gallery likes to flail around--and I am a part of that peanut gallery (though no rudeness intended, certainly).

                        >The readers of this blog are all fairly sophisticated and will make their own judgment calls--regardless. Sometimes negative comments are "handled" by that same peanut gallery.

                        >By calling out the hecklers, do you think they will be likely to stop or feel more empowered?

                        >By default, as a promoter/official, your stature is one that is "above the fray". Consider how calling out the hecklers may affect that stature.

All just thoughts for your consideration.

                          Hmmm ok

So it is ok for the "peanut gallery" as you say to flail around, call out owners, promoters and others, and use computer names to do it, but if we, who put our names out, make a comment about how it gets old or respond that is somehow wrong ? My stature is this, I do all I can to try to help the sport of racing, and I do it for free.....you know why ? Then people can not say I do it for the money, I do it because I love racing, I love the people of racing......but when these same people conitnue to bash, call people out it gets old. My stature is I have big shoulders and can take it and move down the road but it does not mean I will not say something. No it will not stop most because that is what their life is made of, negativity, it zaps the very life out of many things. They complain because no matter what, they are not satisified at all. Contructive ideas, getting behind something, wow here is one, invest some of your money and hard work into it ? hmmm thats the issue they want to bash and complain but are not willing to put anything into it. If all this negativity and bashing and complaining would be put into helping, supporting, investing......I wonder how much that would help the sport we say we love ? hmmmmm Oh well I guess I dont know what I am saying.....

I believe you do indeed know what you are saying.

Although the details are different, I deal with things that are clearly "out of line" on a daily basis.

And while I fall regularly, I would suggest it is all about forgiveness.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program (that is, 5:30 pm, 7/19, Citrus County Speedway)!

I find the best course of action is this : "Don't Feed The Trolls". If no one responds to their cage rattling, then they tend to go away. If they get a rise out of you, they have succeeded at what they are trying to do. The people that read this page, for the most part, can seperate the truth from the BS, and the good from the bad.

BTW, New Smyrna pays $800 to win for Super Lates running 35 laps, so Gary's purse is not out of line and is actually a little better top to bottom, all for a race that is 10 laps shorter on a track half the size. The racers asked for this, so I commend him. I personally would rather watch a shorter race with action right from the green then a long boring race. It's nice for the fans to be able to get home at a descent hour AND watch all the racing. If we want this to flourish as a "family sport" once again, we gotta be able to get the young 'uns home before it gets too late (and Dad has to be able to see all the races in that time frame if you expect him to want to bring the whole tribe out again anytime soon).
