The Florida State Championship race is scheduled for ANOTHER date.

Thanks, Rick and Showtime Speedway for keeping Bryan's memory alive. Bryan was one of *many* top-talent drivers we had in our cars over the years at Sunshine and Citrus. Here's Bryan in our car at Sunshine with a big feature win in 1986:

Govenors Cup

Thanks, Rick and Showtime Speedway for keeping Bryan's memory alive. Bryan was one of *many* top-talent drivers we had in our cars over the years at Sunshine and Citrus. Here's Bryan in our car at Sunshine with a big feature win in 1986:

The Governor's Cup -- the name stands out as the premier short track Late Model race in the sate of Florida and has once again been recognized as such by Governor bob Martinez. The race began as the Florida State Late Model Championship in 1963 at Frank Dery's Golden Gate Speedway in Tampa, where the late Dave McInnis was the first winner."

"Driving the Huey's Restaurant/Capt. Coty's Pontiac, Dick Anderson successfully defended his Florida Governor's Cup Late Model State Championship Title, worth $6,160, on Saturday night, November 4, 1989 at New Smyrna Speedway."

Better look at the inscription on the Governor's Cup itself: it clearly states "In Memory of Al Keller. Florida State Stock Car Champion."

I do understand what started as in 1963. All im saying is that New Smryna refers to it simply as the 49th annual GOVENORS CUP. Its great that they have keep a piece of History with the trophy all these years.
