I read a lot of your posts. As a former northeast transplant to Florida,I admire your enthusiasm.Unfortunately, you are headed for a rude awakening, culture shock, and a lot of disappointment when it comes to short track racing in the southeast.

First rule of thumb when you get down here is never tell'em how you did it back north

      Kendo probably likes seafood chow-dah!

Perhaps it is all true, but hey, the racing season is longer.

I just haven't had the wool pulled over my eyes yet. Seems a lot of people are ignorant to the fact that this sport is dying a slow painful death and if we want it to be around we have to be proactive rather than constantly pointing the finger. It is very much my opinion that is just as much the drivers faults as well as the tracks faults. But again, that is another discussion all together.

If someone doesn't like my opinion or what I have to say there is a little X at the top right corner of the screen, they can click it. No skin off my back. I speak my mind and express my opinions no matter what people say. Not gonna get me to shut up lol!!!

As far as how it's done here compared to there. It's worlds apart, but so are the racing communities so I try to only use things as examples for the most part and not tell people how they should or shouldn't do things because obviously even though it is the same sport, it's still done differently in different places. Most of the time comparisons are for the sake of argument and just trying to express different ideas to possibly help broaden perspective and maybe help overall. That's all.

            A great point?

While it might be quite nice to make some money at your racing, did ya ever wonder how many don't? I think that breaking even is even somewhat of a dream. I race outlaw 2-cycle Open unlimited Race Karts on Dirt ovals here in Fl. with the Fla. All-Stars org. and even with an occasional pay out it still costs me around $2-300. per day/night. Most of us do this because we love it and it keeps us out of the bars and off the porn sites. Went to my first Stock car race in 1946, I built and owned a Dirt Modified, also a NHRA Top fuel rail, and a few other things, but when I'm not racing, I still try to support my local car tracks, like VSP, N.S.B.,Bubas, Marion County and Citrus County.

Off the porn sites too? How do you do it? Maybe someone from up north can show me?

Haha, aint that the truth! I'm pretty sure thats mostly because these southerners have never seen proper racetracks like we had up there!

Or maybe because all the tracks down here prospered before "all ya'll" got here and showed us how to do it.

Racing has NEVER been more successful in Florida than NY, NJ, or PA.

The Midwest has it beat too.

                          Awesome

My dad's in Vero, with a Super Late Model sitting in the garage, since Orlando's not running them.

I suppose this was in response to my comment? Firstly I NEVER said MORE successful. Secondly it was tongue in cheek, not unlike most things I type on this board. Thirdly, don't act like no one but you has never been anywhere else and seen how it's done elsewhere. Some of us inbreds know people who've seen how it's done elsewhere.

Okay, I'm back... What did I miss? Oh... Wow...

Like I said, something you guys need to understand about me. I understand what works here, might not work there, and what works there might not work here. I use comparisons for suggestive offerings to try and help at times. How we do it up there is quite different than down there, that's very apparent. All will admit we do some things better, and you guys do some things better. One thing I will tell you for a fact I hate here but love down there, Simpler rules and similar rules through all tracks... Most of our rule books are 16-20 pages... WHY!?!?!?!? lol!!! All I ever want to do is help. I want racing to succeed wherever it is. If at any point I see or hear of something that doesnt work and I know it's something we have tried maybe in a different way, I will always suggest our way as an option.

Alright... Back into the shop I go!

Phil, every now and then you may miss a detail or lose a battle, but with that as your objective...the war is already won.

Lurkin mentioned those that may have gene pool "problems"...

Reminds me of a story regarding illegal activities involving a teacher and a student from (fill in your home state here). The kicker? The kid was home schooled.
