  • Florida Tracks Working Together!!

Ok, so it's the Panhandle and a totally different world but they have all the same struggles up(over?) here. Earlier this year Southern (Milton), NWFL (Baker) and Flomaton, AL (just over the FL line North of Pensacola) made a pact to work together to align rules and not step on each other and they have worked well together.

Here's a post from FB. Vintage is not an antique car class, it's a pretty cool class that look like "Vintage" based on metric chassis.

Regarding the Vintage race Saturday June 21,2014. Decisions have been made, Teams have been notified of the Decisions and Penalties. We will post the decisions on our website this evening for public view. NOTICE: There will be NO discussion of this here. ALL comments, good or bad, will be deleted and any attempt to sneak one in on another post will result in a permanent ban for the poster. These decisions are FINAL, and, there is no appeals process. In accordance with an agreement reached earlier this year these penalties will be enforced at all 3 area tracks, whose promoters have been in contact throughout this process and are in agreement with the decisions and penalties. Southern Raceway, Flomaton Speedway, and NWFL Speedway speak as one in this instance. I will post a link to the pages on the website as soon as the announcements are published there. We wanted to notify the teams involved first. REMEMBER..NO DISCUSSION. Thanks for your patience. -Jay D

The three tracks did a few smart things before this season. First, they are honoring each others penalties. So if you get banned from Milton for 4 races, then you can't go down the road to Flomaton or NWFL for 4 races as well. This seems to be working as an incentive to NOT wreck people during caution, drive recklessly through the pits, etc.

They also finally all have the same rules for the Pure Stock class (80's V8 GM coupes). And the class above that is now Nesmith Street Stock, so again all the rules are the same.

One thing that is pretty cool is how different the racing program is between Southern and Flomaton. Some of this has to do with Southern being 3/8's and Flomaton being 1/4 mile. They are both weekly Saturday night tracks. NWFL is a biweekly Friday track (and has been for maybe 10 years or more).

Southern - Pure Stock, Nesmith Street Stock, Mod, Vintage
Flomaton - Pure Stock, Nesmith Street Stock, Winged Mini Sprint, Front Wheel Drive

Both tracks run Crate Late Models once or twice a month, and never on the same night, and Cajun V8 Sprints every other month or so. Flomaton will race Vintage as well and I think they coordinate with Southern on this.

here's a link to the Panhandle Vintage class we are talking about:
