Want more cars? Get rid of crappy Hoosier 650s and 450s that are $520+ a set and good enough to win on for one night. The left sides are so soft and wear out near as fast as the rights. Two tires is a waste of time. These tires were paired for OWM who don't even run them anymore (and even they hated them). It's time to get rid of them, get something harder that lasts and increase car counts. Hoosier makes some great tires, just not these.

Another really nice tire is an American Racer 705

I never really liked American Racers (McCreary) when I have run them, but I'd be willing to try them. Anything has to be better than what we have now. I remember talking to Rick Williams (FUPS Director) before this season and he was saying that he had almost moved FUPS to American Racers because they were offering a better deal for the racers. I guess Hoosier sweetened the pot in the 11th hour and the change was never made. How about it track operators? How about challenging Hoosier and American Racer suppliers to present a tire that's hard enough to get some life out of, that still provides adequate grip and can be sold to you at a low enough cost that you can still make a reasonable profit? Play them against one another to get the best deal for everyone. The winner gets the contract for every track. That ought to give them some incentive! I've said before, as racers, most of us have a budget for tires. No matter how long they last, that's the amount we will spend. Now if they were to last 2-3-4 times longer, then we could afford to race more. In my case a LOT more. You are still going to make the same $ on tires, but the collateral effect is racers racing a lot more. It's a "domino effect" that could really help the track's bottom line. More races per tire means more racers per week, better car counts sell more pit passes, a better car count puts on a better show, a better show draws more fans, more fans mean more tickets, hot dogs, SUDS, etc, etc, etc.. It is almost July. Now is the time to beat the drum on this. I'm sure it won't be long before deals have to be struck between the tracks and tire suppliers as to what the needs for tires will be in 2015. How about some test sessions? I'd be willing to help in any way possible. Let's get the ball rolling!Last edited by scottgarrity07; 06-20-2014, 09:20 AM.
