(Ricky Brooks Joins Auburndale Speedway as Tech Inspector and Race Director

Auburndale Speedway, located in central Florida, has decided to take their late model racing to the next level. General manager, Rex Guy, has announced that Auburndale Speedway has teamed up with well renowned tech inspector Ricky Brooks. Ricky has been a tech inspector since 2005, and was also involved in racing as a late model driver in recent years. Ricky is widely known for his abilities as the famous Snowball Derby tech man and in the past 5 years has also been the Florida Speedweeks tech inspector at New Smyrna speedway. Ricky’s abilities as a tech man have been challenged by some of the best late model teams in the nation, which over the years has helped him in keeping the most level playing field for all competitors. Ricky’s duties will not only include being the late model tech man, he will also be the race director for the remaining late model races at Auburndale Speedway for the remainder of 2014. The management of the speedway are excited to welcome Ricky Brooks to their facility to further help Florida short track racing in its ability to promote some of the biggest and best late model races in the near future. Auburndale’s first late model event with their new tech/race director will be on June 21st. Ricky would like to invite each and every late model team to come challenge for the top spot in his inaugural event. Please help us all welcome what most racers would agree as the most respected tech man in the state to Auburndale Speedway.)

Am seriously thinking about attending this event, and all the best to Mr. Brooks.

BUT, given that it is a one groove track, if you hit someone are you going to the back and he gets his position back?

Thank you in advance for your response.

I think "Hitting" someone might involve a lot of drivers going to the back.... Perhaps "OldSchool" meant "Spinning someone out" vs hitting....

Interested in hearing Mr. Brooks response regarding spinning someone out/rough driving. Additionally, and way more important.... will Mr. Brooks have the "Final" say or will Mr. Guy intervene and run it "His" way as in the past...... Good Luck Mr. Brooks....your good name is at stake...
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

        Yep, OSF said it mo-betta.

East bay is just down the road...you get spun out, both cars go to the rear (pending a possible judgment call for "extenuating" circumstances).

Argue and a tractor will pick up your high dollar car and tote it away...

However, would really like to go to Auburndale.

"the best of the best" really?? What is more exciting then the race itself, is how long will Ricky Brooks be able to put up with Rex Guy?

Webster is one of the best at A-dale, I would say this will be a cake walk for him.

Garby, which I am assuming is Mike Garvey?, should be strong, not to sure how his bullring program is?

Rodgers is real good, also not sure about him on the bullring?

Actually any car that can last the entire 100 laps, should be able to run 2nd 3th or 4th to Webster.

Sales will be brisk on Monday morning for hoods, fenders, and doors at the local parts house.

It will be interesting how many show up, and even more interesting, how many show up for the second one?

Just my 2 cents, Vince Patola

Yes, it is Mike Garvey. Had dinner with his car owner Tracy Goodson last weekend in Pensacola and they are both more than excited to "finally" be traveling to central Florida again to race.

Speed51.com will also be returning to Auburndale for this race with Trackside Now coverage.
