Having raced in both the north and the south, the bump and run and using the chrome horn is the norm up north.I have found that it is more frowned upon in the south.
I have always found that if you are on top of your game, you don't have to worry who is behind you.

        Man I miss that place!

Once in the 90's the lights went out on the backstretch. After about an hour delay, they briefly came on and blew out again.

The late model guys voted to continue with headlights from the tow trucks (barely) lighting the backstretch.

Lots of fighters, zero whiners at Hialeah.

Auburdale used to be the same way, Showtime is currently the best choice, imo.

          Memories

I remeber when Rob Regula slide down he front stretch with his back end on the wall and he took out 2 light poles. If I'm not mistaken he did that twice.

Hey Oldschool+, I was racing Hialeah that night in mini stocks. We started our race in the dark, and the lights came on slowly during the event.

I was always a Bob Regula fan. Now that guy was colorful and wild!

To each his own. Handle it how you want. Race the way you want to be to be raced or are raced. I can assure you someone moves me out the way to win like that and there is a 90% chance there car will not make it to the VL photo shoot.
Of course do that one really good time and the next time you are leading whoever is in 2nd will think long and hard before trying to move you out of the way again.

                  a few thoughts:

                  >And, of course, when you are second in a faster car and there is 2 to go and you can see daylight under the leader's left rear quarter you are just going to follow him to the checker?

                  >If you don't crash, then your only "beef" is that you didn't win. Of course, the way to avoid the "chrome horn" is to simply drive off, which you couldn't do.

                  >There is always someone that will retaliate to your retailiatin'. Sometimes immediately, sometimes next week, sometimes with a 9/16" impact socket balled up into their fist, sometimes all three. Because they feel slighted, and they want you to think long and hard before you try that again.

All just stuff for general reflection. As you say, to each their own.

Correct handle it how you think it needs to be handled and if it goes south it goes south. If it goes wayyyy south well I guess we can go there to. Its just the way us Old School racers were brought up. I am by no means a fan favorite due to my driving style but if I cant pass someone I will not bump and run them due to I'm not going to put up with that being done to me. As it has been said racing is going and doing. Stuff happens. Then sometimes other stuff happens.
