Actually …...
The race at Citrus was on the schedule since last November. There was not a race on the Desoto schedule then because I went through all the tracks planned schedules then to set this up. Since Jimmy and Denny took over they re-did their schedule and then this was on the schedule. I do not think they did it on purpose but it is a reason why I have sent a letter to each of the track promoters and owners to try to be an assistance to setting up schedules so that they do not interfere and each track could have a big race with the opportunity for the cars to go to each one without them being scheduled on top. Several have said they would willing to work on this and we will try to get this going on the near future. It is in the best interest of the tracks, drivers and the fans to have races where all the best do not have to choose which track to go to. We will see if we can get it going soon. ThanksRick Bristol

For someone who hasn't heard a thing about this race, you seem very well informed about this race. By the way, where did you read about Johanna Long running. You posted before the announcement was made. Interesting to say the least.Originally posted by cfontfan View PostSo havent heard a thing about the 100 lap super race at citrus this weekend. That is a shame. But over time i think this will all work out. The guys at citrus are always going to play dumb and blame everyone else. So is Auburndale i guess. Desoto is easily going to win this pissing contest. But in the mean time, some cars might just come out mothballs to run at the other two tracks. And the more cars that come back out to the track, the better in the end.Originally posted by OWM94 View PostWhat a shame that this race was scheduled on top of Desoto's BIG Late Model and Sprint Show

Matt once again your saying I am blaming everyone else...
I can show you for fact the schedules I had when I did that last October and announced beginning of November. I had all the scheduled that they each had shown at the promoters meeting and I worked hard to be sure we used the dates they did not have. However again as I say Jimmy and Denny took over after Kevin and they made changes to the schedule thus now there are two races on same night, but the fact is that there was only the Citrus race when it was made. That is why I am trying to help with scheduling so that all tracks can have a big late model race on different nights and not on top of each other. Same for Modifieds, Sportsman and Trucks. I was not blaming them, was correcting a statement that was not true. Truth is there could be enough cars at each track this weekend, but it would be way better to have one big show so all cars could go and all Late Model fans could see one big show.Rick Bristol

Payout
Desoto is paying 3 grand no matter how many cars show up. Citrus is paying 2 grand if 19 pr less show up, and 2500 if more then 19 show. Desoto is only 75 laps, citrus is 100. Desoto start money is almost triple citrus. I like both tracks, but, I am going to Desoto because it has really stepped up its program since the new owners took over. It would be nice if each track could get 18 cars each. It seems like there are just to many asphalt race tracks in florida right now, and not enough cars. Just my 2 cents, Vince

The problem isn't that they all run on Saturdays..
The problem is the expense. In all divisions at every track. 4cyl bombers are running racing tires!?! It's completely out of control at all levels and everyone's to blame. The promoters are scared to rein in the rules because it will piss off the few racers they have left and new blood isn't coming because the upfront and weekly expense make it wayyy too hard to start from scratch.
How can a typical family man with a wife and kids justify spending $500 plus a week and drag his family out to sit in the sun at a track for 6 plus hours on a Saturday vs. just taking them to the beach or taking the boat out? When I can take my wife and kids to Orlando and spend the weekend at theme parks for the same cost as it is to race, I promise you I'm out voted 9/10ths of the time!!! lol!!
What you see left are the diehards... The guys who were doing it as a hobby are long gone and they won't be back until it's affordable again.
