Lock up the liquor cabinet! Hide the valuables! Notify the Citrus County Authorities!
The "Thundering Herd" of the DeSoto Champ Kart Series will make their inaugural visit at the historic 3/8 mile paved oval of Citrus County Speedway on Saturday night, July 26!
This is the 3rd Leg of the highly-competitive 2008 Florida Triple Crown Series. This is a 4-race series, with one drop allowed at four different short tracks (Feb. 9 at CCMP, May 17 at DSS, July 26 at Citrus County, Nov. 15 at Auburndale Speedway).
The series would like to welcome any interested or curious folks to come into the pit area, to meet our drivers and crews. This series has some of the friendliest racers and crew anywhere.

Competition: In the last fifteen series events, an amazing TWELVE different winners have triumphed!
Stars: Think this is just a "go kart" series....?? Already this season, 2007 TBARA Sprint Car Series champion Troy Decaire has participated once (finishing second), along with FASCAR Truck driver Barry Bartlett (finished seventh). Late Model and Open Wheel Modified Driver Dustin Chisholm has also competed with the series (finishing second), along with dirt late model driver Johnny Allen (finishing fourth). In addition, Citrus County Speedway Open Wheel Modified Driver Greg Edwards, and his crew chief Tim Hughes, have both had this date circled on their calendars for many months, and hope to run well when the champ karts take to the track on July 26! Both Greg and Tim are DCKS champ kart veterans.
Purses: With the additional sponsorship for this race, the estimated cash payout is expected to top $1,000! In addition to the cash purse, the series has posted the following contingency prizes for this event:
For the WINNER of the feature:
• A unique Eagle's Head Trophy - http://karting.4cycle.com/gallery/sh...ze=big&cat=613
• $100 CASH BONUS from CUTTING EDGE KART SHOP!! And, if owner Chase Fitzgerald wins the feature, he will decline the prize, and instead add it (an additional $100!) to the next Triple Crown feature (winner's purse)!!!
• One free VEGA tire (right-side), if the winner's kart has VEGA's on both right side tires.
For the SECOND and THIRD place finishers in the feature:
• Free Clutch Rebuild Labor (any make), parts extra from CUTTING EDGE KART SHOP
For the SIXTH place finisher in the feature:
• Free Set-Up Session with CUTTING EDGE KART SHOP
In addition, Victor Peters, owner of VP-Motorsports in nearby Brooksville will sponsor the heat races! They have posted $100 in CASH! (Each heat race will pay 1st-$25, 2nd-$15, 3rd-$10 - total of $50 for each heat).
And NO, the payout and prizes don't take ONE CENT from the front gate of any track the series races at! The series generates it's own purses entirely from its own sponsorships, class entry fees, and other revenues. The series participation at each track is entirely a PLUS for every other class. The series brings fans into the front gate, purchases many pit passes, buys concessions, etc., all of which puts extra dollars into the other class payouts that night. Our racers are simply grateful to be able to race at the "big tracks" of Florida!
