Citrus Couinty - 6-7-14 - Non-Wing Sprints - DQ's

21 Non Wing Sprints took to the track at Citrus last night and put on a very good show. When I awoke this morn and checked the results I saw where #21 Jimmy Alvis, who took the checkered in first along with #4 (41)Ty DeCaire who was 3rd and Brian Gingras in the 1X who finished 6th were all relegated to positions 19,20 and 21. The initials DQ did not show on the result page so I am curious as to why they lost their positions. Shane Butler in the #18 was the new winner with #88 Sport Allen 2nd and #92 Dave Retzlaff 3rd. Citrus did an outstanding job in speeding up the program as rain was headed their way. Heat races went to Jason Kimball #79, Jimmy Alvis #21, and #2 Larry Brazil.The feature saw Brazil lead laps 1-8, then tangling with another car in turn four giving the lead to Ty DeCaire who led until lap 12 when he was passed by Alvis who went onto victory. 2 cautions in the race on lap 8 and 26. Butler came from his 8th starting spot and drove a heck of a race moving to 2nd and then pursuing Alvis. As mentioned Alvis was DQ'd giving Butler the win. Sportsman race saw 7 cars with Charlie Brown taking the win making it two in a row as he bested the field at the Dale last week and now Citrus. Tim Wilson in street stocks, Bill Ryan in Mini's and Larry Welter, Jr #58 in Pure stocks. #59 Eric Sharrone in F8's. Another good night of racing at Citrus. The father's day special admission was appreciated by all Dad's....Thanks Citrus......

Ahhhh. And the truth comes out... Shane butler is an ass, and I hope karma gets him good. Why act that way, is he not educated enough to use his words and not his fists? He punched an older gentleman and broke his glasses. Someone needs to give him a time out!!!!

Hey Kat nice to hear from you. Let me clear what I meant. After Butler had one helluva battle on the track racing for 2nd with DeCaire he then went in pursuit (bad choice of words on my part) of Alvis. He closed for awhile but just couldn't catch Alvis. Even with the lap 26 re-start Alvis maintained his lead. Shane was a complete gentleman in victory lane as he mentioned he had nothing at all for Alvis and was not going to catch him for the lead and was happy with his second place finish. Now a question for you? When did the punching incident take place ? Also did you get to Citrus last night for the show ? Looked for you but didn't see you. Next week is DeSoto, I may attend, not sure at this point. Just a side note, I am an older gentleman and wear glasses as well. Have spoken with Shane on several occassions at the track and haven't been punched yet. (lol)

It happened in tech, they spent about 40 minutes checking left rears for soaking .

Any chance we could get the particulars from someone official? I'd love to know, and I'm sure anyone who is a sprint owner, driver, fan, would like to know exactly how it was determined and all the details.

Nah. We didn't go, but we will be there next week at desoto.. We have resolved to only watch sprints if joey is driving.

The incident with butler happened in tech.. As I've said before.. Always a bridesmaid.. Never the bride. I dont blame him for being mad... He can't win to save his life.

Since you dont race yourself denman, never cut him in line... He has a fit and may punch you then!!

I didn't walk over and see how they checked the tire. just stuck around to see who won so I wouldn't post winners photo of 21 if he didn't tech.

Sure wish we had the speedway papers of years ago so we could read about the race and the DQ's. Maybe announcer Berti can give a little input as well. He seems to care about the fans getting the correct info. Once again, thanks for the input.

Plus they won them when there was still very good competition! Sorry, but car quality and driver quality is not what it once was in the sprints.

Your personal vendetta against the Butlers is really getting old. Every time I check the internet for news or results, here you are opening your mouth and complaining. Shut the hell up and move on with your life. We get it, you're a huge Augilar fan. What's happened this year is done and over with. You seem to be the only one who can't let it go, and I'd venture to guess that you weren't even directly involved other than its your "favorite driver".
